I haven't personally trained any dragons from 0-25 (the highest so far is 12 :sobs:), but I currently have 2. One of those I bought because it had eliminate and was decently pretty, the other I am borrowing. I'm planning to train 2 that I have to 25, which are currently level 19 and level 21... Basically I chose them because they're pretty/cheapish..

my first level 25s were my progens. my current mire flyer i bought already leveled and my other level 25s were all dragons i got as a newbie. i had lots of coli energy then but less so now for leveling 25s

not that this helps you, but I bought them all pre levelled!
and yes! almost all of my dragons live in a village at the edge of the shrieking wilds.
my coli dragons, on the other hand, are a small group of travelling fighters working to eradicate Shade remnants from nature's forests. they still call the village their home, but they spend much of their time together fighting in the wilderness!

I earned one during a battle, and still have that one. Then, I began training them. I've sold some I trained, stoned, etc, as level 25. It takes awhile, but I enjoy that. I have one of the ones I trained still, but the others, I either gifted or sold. So, I have a set of mixed feelings. I like older dragons, but also like special dragons. Before I begin to train my next coli dragon, I will decide on one I like best for it, and plan to keep that dragon. I will then decide which ones to sell as I train up the ones I prefer most. In the meantime, these are my current coli dragons.

my first level 25s were a gift from my wife that i liked and one of the first free dragons i ever got as a newbie, who happened to be part of a lineage that encouraged leveling to 25 and gave tips on how to do it/offered rental 25s to help (vitali's warriors). i've actually never bought a 25... only ever leveled them myself. it's satisfying to accomplish something like that on my own
(also re: lore, it's only really a major part of those two's story. other level 25s i have focus on other aspects or just don't have lore yet)

My first level 25s were a combination of dragons I bought from the auction house as level 1s and dragons I hatched from eggs myself. It isn't really about lore to me, although I plan to incorporate their levels into my lore eventually, but more about which dragons I feel most attached to, and which ones I like looking at the most lol.
I've since either sold or exalted a bunch of my level 25s but I think the ones I have now, I'm keeping.

i bought them from ah lol their lvl 25 status usually doesn't factor into their lore but sometimes it does. it depends on whimsy. also a lot of them were bought nearly a decade ago

Experimenting basically, which ended up with using 2 Fire dragons in the Crystal Pool venue because I had an entirely random stat distribution.
Then I leveled 2 of my Warrior Type dragons to level 25 for lore reasons, and they became my new fodder levelers for the Mire with a build I gave them both, not using an Eliminate or Ambush stones. Then I found a guide and Wow that made everything easier.
