Okay, I'm not gonna lie, the more I look at these, the more I really really Really like them. They're soooooo cute to me, they look so salamander!!!
The design has so much character, they don't feel like just kind of another take on a familiar archetype. Love when a fantasy creature draws inspiration from multiple sources like this, and when they don't necessarily do the obvious thing.

@countessoffire I suppose if you squint they could be bugs, but I think theyre much more like armadillos or pangolins! Especially with the diggy claws
