The trilobite beetle, which both has a cool prehistoric vibe/is named for a common fossilized animal (perfect for earth) and is already about as dragon-y as an insect could be:

Speaking of trilobites, they have all sorts of cool species that could really lend itself to some line breaking terts:

I just think it'd be really cool to lean into fossil adjacent animal for earth's ancient!
I think those are neat, but the teaser reminded me of pangolins. I do hope its that or like a roly poly or something.
edit: i forgot we can't use the alternate term for a type of medicine so i changed the name to roly poly.

Trilobite beetle is honestly the best guess I've seen, based on the implied body structure. They do certainly look like they'll have long tails and "segmented", plated bodies.

tho since we already have familiars based on trilobite beetle, they are probably not gonna use same concept on dragons :(
but trilobites themselves are still on table as an option
Okay actually that slaps so hard. I would love that oh my gosh. Imagine them with the Scuttle gene, too?!
