Sadly, I don't have the patience or time for anything more than rough sketches these days, but I do really enjoy my sketchbook     And here's a painting I did I wanna say... 4 years ago now? I really want to get back into painting again, I just don't have the time or money for supplies ;w;

@pheelthemoment Ah it shows though! I've always found that opening the art up in a program with layers, then duplicating it and setting it to multiply and lowering opacity could help me get just a tiny bit of vibrancy back. If I wasn't in the mood for doing a bunch of little tweaks and edits~

@DragonJade Ah, bud, if those are the rough sketches you're talking about those are gorgeous, I'm loving the form! That's a thing I struggle to capture in general c:

Hey!! Glad to see other traditional artists. I'm a traditional illustrator as my day job and I use watercolour, acrylic and mixed media. (sometimes fineliner!) I'm happy to answer any questions people may have! =) My art dump thread is here if you'd like to keep up with my art! @Noctomnis I mean first of all beautiful work!

I personally would love to know what you do to upload them so cleanly and vibrantly. Good scanner? Specific edits? Color balancing?

The best work in the world can be hard to make look good when uploading it to a computer if someone doesn't know what they're doing~

@FrigginConfused: Thank you!! I use a scanner to scan my work. It's a printer / scanner but I've used a Canoscan Lide 110 in the past which I recommend. It's very easy to use and setup, just simply connect it with a USB. When scanning I make sure to weigh it down with books to get the best quality scan I can (make sure it's at least 300dpi) then I open the scan in an image editing program. I use Photoshop at the moment but I've used GIMP and other tools in the past, they all have similar features.

When you get to editing I use a variety of different tools. Adjusting the contrast of the image is usually my first go to and then I shift between adjusting the levels of the image and then back to the contrast until the whites are crisp white and the blacks are as dark as I want. (you can find these options under image > adjustments in Photoshop)

I sometimes also go into Hue and Saturation. This is useful for adjusting individual colours, like if you want your blues to be more red etc. There's a dropdown menu where you can select which colour to target. Then just play around with the sliders, it's a lot of fun seeing how your art looks in different colour schemes.

I then export the image as a PNG. I hope this helps!

@Noctomnis Ah I see! I'm a Clip Studio Paint person myself, good for the comics I work on, but other people will be happy to know Gimp is free and very similar to photoshop~

I wonder if the level editing in photoshop and clip is any similar, I know little things like this can vary pretty widely in programs. Either way, you've clearly got a knack for getting it just right, it's impressive lol

I take pictures and then I edit them in an online program :'-) to make them more digital. So this becomes this But I like it better to just sketch, I mainly draw 1 thing which is a Face and they're all pretty much the same :'-)
