Ah, so @kiyoooo (great name lol) the whole deal with the Herd is once a member hatches a nest, you move the Herd bio from parent to children and delete it from the parent. Those children are then the only way to continue the Herd in that line, and when they lay nests the bio will pass to their children, etc etc. At least that's how I've understood it. The parents are often exalted once their duty has been done, or you can do whatever you like with them. The goal is to keep the flight-line alive with existing unbred or newly hatched dergs and we'll see who is the last line standing!

Ahh I see! I'm just a bit worried that this baby is a false lightning, because neither of his paternal grandparents or great grandparents are on the spreadsheet (unless it's no longer active!)
his dad still has the lore in his bio, which is how I was able to narrow the lineage down to being on his dad's side
I'm happy to remove it if he shouldn't be part of the lineage though!

Just out of curiosity, I don't know if this question has been asked before, but has there ever been a case where two dragons from two of the lineages breed together for their first nests? Say a dragon from the Shadow Lineage breeds with one from the Wind Lineage. Which lineage would the hatchlings belong to? Or is that against the rules?

I can't promise that replies in forums won't get lost in the system, so please ping me if you want my attention! I don't mind at all :)
@kiyoooo, if you check the bio you will see that only a dragon’s first nest can be counted for the Herd. Unfortunately your hatchling is not from a first nest and should not have the bio. The parent dragon ought by rights to have had the bio removed or changed to say ‘retired’, but occasionally things slip through.
@SaurouZ, I can only give my own point of view, since I don’t run this project and others may have different opinions. Personally I would avoid cross breeding different lineages for their first nests. Tracking 11 (now 13) different lineages is daunting enough without further complications. If it were to happen accidentally I would either pick one lineage for the hatchlings and disqualify the other parent or disqualify that nest. If a case should appear, you can always ask DarkPuffin how to proceed.

@Runelesse that's completely fine! I'll remove it from his bio then :))

@Runelesse Okay! I was just curious as to how that would work :)

@SaurouZ, it was a good question to ask.
I have considered similar hypotheticals from time to time (even seen one or two exemplars of them). The most confusing 'what if' is where two dragons of the same lineage but different generations were to have a mutual first nest together. That scenario really makes my head spin.
