Same issue. Only happens on front page. I can't log in or check alerts. Every other page works fine though.

Work computer: Windows 8.1; IE. Pretty sure its UTD and no add-ons (need to check though). Type my user name and password, hit enter. Notta. Hit login. Notta. Have to navigate to another page. Will double check if its with or without the index part on the URL.
Home computer: Windows 7 64 bit. FireFox and its UTD. No add-ons.
Front page takes a very long time to load with the Random Dragon picture seeming to cause the lag. Majority of the page will load instantly, but the image wont and it causes a lag of any where from 30 seconds to over a minute. If I attempt to log in at all during this time without stopping the load, I cannot log in on the front page at all. Refreshing doesnt fix it and I either have to navigate to another page or open a new one.
Loads up without the index part in the URL.

Having the same issues. I have found a workaround to the message center, though. It'll load on almost any page other than the homepage.
Homepage also doesn't want to finish loading properly.
Using Firefox, whatever the latest version is, and Windows 8. (I have not updated to 8.1.)
It's also happening on my Samsung Galaxy Note II. I'm using the default browser on my Note II. Operating system is KitKat.
