This is technically my first breeding project ever, but I think I'll do just fine. I was able to sort out a 2-pair start: [center][img]https://i.imgur.com/7pMmbs1.png[/img] [img]https://i.imgur.com/Ojo0sge.png[/img][/center] The goal for Cirrus and Aciano is to give me a kid with: White or Antique Any / Pearl or Maize Flair / Sky Glimmer. Cotton and Steel have a wider color range on the tert, but they're also pretty close. From them, I need a kid with: White or Antique Any / Pearl or Maize Any / Cornflower or Sky or Stonewash Glimmer / Skydancer. I've already gotten one nest from these two, but they were all failures. Also apparently Poison - Toxin - Koi is a super, super wonky gene combination. Laced doesn't exist in any of the dragons, and isn't a very popular gene in the first place, so I'll just buy that one. The main hassle here is going to be breeding out Opal and Koi. Otherwise, I think this project should go pretty smoothly (knock on wood). Another few minutes and I figured out that Dust makes for a good primary for this. So, of course, now I need a wide-range breeding pair or two, just to produce Dust Flaunt/Dust Flair/Stained dragons. I've decided that I want two pairs, each covering roughly half of the color wheel. They'll be pearlcatchers and spirals, because I love pearlcatchers and apparently everyone else loves spirals. And fortunately I found some dragons through the search that would work! [center][url=https://www1.flightrising.com/dragon/75185310][img]https://www1.flightrising.com/rendern/350/751854/75185310_350.png[/img][/url][/center] I was very, very lucky to find this one! The owner fortunately was willing to sell her to me. She just needs a breed change. This one needs Flaunt, Flair, and a breed change, but at least she already has Stained, which is good because I refuse to pay for Stained. So these two cover the F half of each pair, but what about the males? To cover as much of the color wheel per pair as I can, I'd need M dragons with green-range terts - the ideal colors would be Algae to pair with Mauve, and Fern to pair with Rose. Unfortunately, dragon search didn't yield any promising results anywhere near this range. BUT! I [i]was[/i] able to put together a pair that has the potential to produce dragons in that range: [center][img]https://i.imgur.com/qvf1SmA.png[/img][/center] Yeah, I know, that color range is ridiculous. But with multiple nests and some good luck, I should be able to get two green-range males. All the genes are already sorted, so I'm breeding just for color and gender here; also, I'll settle for greens that aren't Algae and Fern (which would give me the widest ranges possible). Prazien now belongs to me, and Damascus' owner has graciously allowed me to borrow her for a few nests, so I'm confident that I'll be able to get the dragons I need with time. But that third one?? Peacock is only seven colors off from the ideal Algae - this kid is very close. I'm going to hold on to him, and if something better doesn't pop up in the next few nests, he might just be useable! It's insanely lucky that all three of these hatches are sort of in the green range, and I hope that luck holds. I'm sure I have the lairspace for this (haha no). I've had this dragon in mind for a while; he's designed specifically to fit a nice accent that I have. You'd think that an XXY in relatively popular color ranges would be easy to find, but it looks like this project is going to be a bit of a pain! I figured out a four-pair start: [center][img]https://i.imgur.com/Mxg7wnM.png[/img] Goal: Sapphire-Blue Metallic, Sapphire-Blue Any, Flaxen-Metals Any. These color ranges are flexible, because this pair is so close! [img]https://i.imgur.com/oH3UAZl.png[/img] Goal: Storm-Splash Any, Storm-Splash Any, Flaxen-Marigold Glimmer. This pair has a decent range on the tert; I have high hopes. [img]https://i.imgur.com/WqkQX0F.png[/img] Goal: Storm-Lapis Metallic, Cobalt-Periwinkle Alloy, Grapefruit-Saffron Any. Absolutely awful tert range, plus the kid from this pair [i]needs[/i] to inherit both Metallic and Alloy. I'm guessing this will be my problem pair. [img]https://i.imgur.com/E1S8rKd.png[/img] Goal: Storm-Lapis Any, Storm-Lapis Any, Sanddollar-Gold Glimmer. Excellent tert range on these two! ----- I may be pushing it by starting this with just the four pairs, but I didn't find many other workable dragons. Almost all of the dragons within an acceptable range were Lapis/Lapis/X, and it was a real pain to find any on the other side of Cobalt. It's absolutely necessary that I get every possible correct gene in this first generation. That's where this project will struggle, since it's all gem genes: it'll be hard to breed in Met/All/Glim specifically. Even the final pair will only have one copy of Alloy. I'm sure these guys will require multiple nestings each, but with how close some of these color ranges are, the next generation should be much, much easier. The pairs all have different breeding cooldowns, and it looks like I'll be able to nest them about three days apart each. Hopefully that helps save me some lair space. Just a quick update for this one! Both pairs are on nests right now!

Steel & Cotton's nest should hatch on the 22nd, and Aciano & Cirrus' nest will be a couple days after! Wish me luck, I really hope I'll get the kids I need!
