TOPIC | Global Dragon Census
I decided to use the search feature to count how many dragons of each species there are to make a census! There are...
300,000 Banescales
300,000 Bogsneaks
1,000,000 Coalts
1,000,000 Faes
400,000 Gaolers
1,000,000 Guardians
2,000,000 Imperials
800,000 Mirrors
900,000 Nocturnes
200,000 Obelisks(I was shocked by this. We need to expand the population!)
900,000 Pearlcatchers
500,000 Ridgebacks
1,000,000 Skydancers
300,000 Snappers
1,000,000 Spirals
800,000 Tundras
200,000 Veilspuns(We also need to expand their population)
600,000 Wildclaws

I know it's meant to weigh the genetic outcome, but I wonder how this would impact the rarity scale should it be adjusted to reflect the numbers.

I think you may not know because you joined so recently but the reason there are so few Obelisks is that they are the most recent breed. They were introduced only about 4 or 5 months ago. They were also the first Modern breed in several years, meaning a huge amount of people stopped using the site between the release of all the older breeds and the release of Obes and Ancients. Veilspuns are the second newest breed, being a little less than a year old iirc. They are popular and not hard to get at this point so that's really the only reason their population is so low.

In fact, the entire list in general reflects the order in which dragons were introduced to the site. There is also some popularity of the breed involved of course (which is why there are few Ridgebacks and Snappers comparatively. And so many Imperials!), but for the most part, the newer breeds are less numerous than the older ones. I imagine if you could count only active users the numbers would be closer.
