Mistclan
Year 2 - Moon 12 - Greenleaf 3/3
Roll: 58
Froststar starts to give birth late at night, and once he notices what’s going on Talonstripe immediately grabs Skytail to look after her. Since she’s not exactly young, the birth was very difficult. The first kit comes out fine, but as she’s giving birth to the second one she passes out. The kit somehow survives, but Froststar loses a life. Once she recovers, she is glad the kits are healthy and fussed over them tirelessly. There is a male and a female. The female is almost a replica of her mother, light gray with white splotches but with her father’s golden eyes. Her name is Shiningkit. The male is a light brown tabby, with pale green eyes. His name is Flakekit. Despite the problems during their birth, both kits are very healthy and their parents are very proud.

Robinshadow finally moved to the nursery, having stayed as a warrior for as long as possible. The thing that finally convinced her to move is when she couldn’t even manage to jump up to the warrior den anymore. Arrowpaw’s mentor while she is in the nursery is Moonstrike.

Beetlefur has gone to join Jayspot in the elder’s den. Ever since Hazelnut left, he’d been feeling the effects of his age, and he decided that he could wait for his mate in the safety of the elder’s den. The kits and younger apprentices are happy; now that he isn’t spending time being a warrior, he would be able to tell them all his exciting stories from when he was a loner.

Year Two | Moon 12 | Leaf-bare
Number is 30, the clan is safe.

It's an... interesting time in CragClan. It's the coldest season, and as such Cherrypeak wants as many helping paws as possible feeding the clan to avoid yet another famine. She talks to her most senior warriors to advice- Rosepath, Foxfoot, Beelight, and Grayhollow the medicine cat, to hear their potential opinions on apprenticing all the kits in the nursery. She speaks with the experience of two past famines under her leadership, out of concern, genuinely only wanting the best for her clanmates.

"...I think it's a bad idea." Rosepath says calmly. "We- I-" There's a pause, a flash of pain over her face as she's obviously thinking of Sorrelpool.
"We were always against the idea of apprenticing too early. Icykit, Lightkit and Frostkit are only three moons old, they're so much smaller than the other apprentices, and Briarkit is attached to Leafshine still... He's the only memory she has of Mothgaze." Her voice drops to a choked whisper and the deputy shakes her head.
"My vote is no."

"I have to agree, Cherrypeak. Looking at it another way, apprenticing kits too quickly is what led to the last famine." Beelight says, a rare hard glint in his eyes, and Cherrypeak narrows her own green gaze at him.
"Explain." She says, putting her tail on Foxfoot's shoulder to stop him from interrupting as the smaller ginger tom opens his mouth, outraged.

"Well, there were six of them, they were only four moons old, and they treated the whole thing like a game. With them all on different patrols, it's, it's a wonder we caught anything at all." Beelight manages to get out and Rosepath lets out a low sigh.

"He's right, as much as I don't like to admit it. We weren't prepared to take on five new warrior apprentices even with the expansion to the warrior's den." Rosepath says and Cherrypeak's hackles raise.

"Can't handle it? We're CragClan, surely you're all capable warriors who can handle a few misbehaving kittens, or am I overestimating you?" She responds badly, and in kind, Rosepath's tail lashes.
"That's not what he said. Putting Pearstrike and Fogstorm's kits on so many patrols to get them 'experience' limited what those patrols could catch with new apprentices wrestling each other on the beach and scaring away all the fish!" Rosepath argues, chest puffed out, and Foxfoot huffs.

"My kits will be better behaved, then. They might be young, but they're capable little cats! Icykit can just about do a hunting crouch, they'll be great." He dismisses Rosepath's concern and the she-cat laughs sarcastically at him.

Quietly, after taking the whole time to observe, finally Grayhollow's voice reaches them.

"Have them on camp duties for a moon. It may be disappointing for the new apprentices, but it will teach them the lay of the territory and where to find adequate bedding as well as how to properly clean out and set up a den. They can work on other tasks too, like escorting me, Polarsight and Hazelpaw out for herb collecting, or stabilizing any loose rocks with mud." When Grayhollow speaks, everyone listens- and while no one is completely satisfied with the answer, they can all agree. It's a fair compromise, it puts idle paws into action while keeping them from causing or getting into trouble.

Foxfoot is chosen to mentor Briarpaw, a decision that Pearstrike tries to argue- she wanting to mentor him, out of respect for Mothgaze's memory, but Cherrypeak firmly tells her that she is still mourning the loss of her mate, best friend and kit and that she needs to worry about herself first before another apprentice.

Leafshine is given Icypaw to mentor, Amberdawn is given Lightpaw, and Beelight is entrusted with Frostpaw. Cherrypeak was the one to decide all the mentors- including the decision to give Leafshine an apprentice, simply saying "She is a talented warrior and an outstanding tracker, traits that would be invaluable in any warrior she were to train."

Mistclan
The cats of Mistclan live in a lush green forest next to a small-ish twoleg village to the south, with a unclimbable cliff cutting off west. The hunting is usually good enough to feed the general clan, but the unpredictable blizzards that can sometimes blow in from the north can scare away prey for days, and leave the cats trapped inside their dens.

Mistclan
Year 3 - Moon 1 - Leaf-fall 1/3
Roll: 35

While Jadefeather is out hunting by herself, a rogue that she recognises from the battle a few moons ago calls to her from just across the border. Unable to control herself, she leaps at him and they start to fight. While she has better technique, the rogue fights dirty, kicking up dust into her eyes and making her unable to see. While she’s trying to blink it out, he jumps on her and swiftly snaps her neck before she can throw him off. Ryeflash is training Shellpaw nearby, and when they come to investigate the noise they discover Jadefeather’s limp body, and the rogue standing over her. Shellpaw also recognises him as the cat that killed her littermate, and she also runs to attack him. Left with no other choice, Ryeflash joins in and the two of them manage to drive him off.

When they break the news to Froststar, who is still nursing her kits, grief and worry flash in her eyes at the death of another warrior. There aren’t many left now, and so she tells Ryeflash to hold a warrior ceremony for the three oldest apprentices. Shellpaw had fought well against the rogue, Arrowpaw’s hunting skills rivaled even the senior warrior’s and Alderpaw was an excellent tracker. Their ceremonies are hosted after Jadefeather’s vigil.

Shellpaw was honored for her bravery and loyalty, and was give the name Shellstream. Arrowpaw was acknowledged for his perseverance and determination, and was given the name Arrowsong. Alderpaw was credited for his quick-thinking and courage, and was given the name Alderleap. All three of the new warriors sat vigil, excited to be able to serve their clan as best they could.

Robinshadow successfully gave birth to three adorable kits! A fluffy orange female with golden eyes called Emberkit, a sandy colored tabby male with pale green eyes called Cliffkit, and a light brown male with white accents and dark blue eyes called Claykit. Their birth provides a much-needed boost for the clan’s happiness, and they are visited by almost everyone before the day is out.

CragClan
Year Three | Moon 1 | Leaf-bare
a clan who lives on the cliffside overlooking the sea. Main prey is birds, moles and fish, main predators are snakes and birds of prey like hawks. Their territory is a lot of lowland by the sea and the surrounding crags and rocks, as well as a small forested area. The cats of CragClan have very strong legs and paws for jumping.
A few years ago, a rockslide wiped out all but a handful of CragClan’s population and they had to move camp. In those desperate times, kits were apprenticed young. It’s since become standard practice to apprentice kits at three moons and have them on ‘camp duties’ for a moon so they can get used to their new position and develop the maturity needed to be an asset on patrols.

Number is 78, the clan is safe.
Since it is the start of CragClan's third year, I'm gonna roll a few dice!
dice one- recruit? (1- no, 2- yes) 2!
dice two- how many? (1- single 2- couple 3- they are family) 3!
So, three rogue siblings it is. Cragclan welcomes Magpie, Crow and Raven to the clan! They will be joining on a trial basis to see if they like clan living, but Cherrypeak has no doubt that CragClan has just gained three new members.

This is strange to a lot of the clan cats, many who haven't seen a friendly rogue in their lifetime, and some who are especially cautious at the concept of taking in outsiders. However, Grayhollow leads the three starving rogues into camp, feeding and tending to their wounds, even Blizzardpelt has to admit that these three cats gratefully scarfing down leftover mice are no threat.

After Cherrypeak gives them the okay to stay, she offers them all the opportunity to train alongside the Clan cats to get an idea of what it's like to be one. Raven is entrusted to Pearstrike, and Cherrypeak and Rosepath themselves take Magpie and Crow out on patrols to survey their hunting and fighting ability. Crow is a very apt hunter, and Magpie is easily distracted, but has a knack for patrols and noticing what other cats miss.

Raven impresses the other apprentices with her hunting abilities- she's able to climb trees even more nimbly than Tempestpaw, and smiles down at the tom from the top of the large pine tree she's scaled with a bird clasped firmly in her jaws. Tempestpaw feels himself blush beneath his fur, and observant Deerpaw chuckles into his tail from the sidelines.

By the end of the moon, Raven has firmly decided that she wants to stay with CragClan. Crow and Magpie too are impressed by the way the clan works and the protection it provides. While none of them take clan names yet, they agree to stay permanently.

The leader has the surname -peak instead of star because it's symbolic of the strength and endurance a leader must have.

Year 3 - Moon 2 - Leaf-fall 2/3
Roll: 25

A sickness finds its way into the nursery, after Pebblepaw mistakenly brought back a tainted piece of fresh-kill. Robinshadow is the first to fall ill, waking up many other cats with her coughing. At first she ignores it, trying to brush it off and stay healthy for her kits, but after little Claykit also starts to cough, she calls in Skytail to take a look. He gives them both a few herbs, but later admits he has no idea what it is, or what caused it. Lakeleap begins to cough not soon after, and all three of the sick cats are moved to the medicine den to try stop the spread. Cliffkit and Emberkit are taken into the care of Froststar while their mother is out.

At first moving the cats seemed to have worked, and nobody else gets sick for a few days. Then Cliffkit starts coughing as well, and complaining of a sore throat. He gets moved to the medicine den as well, along with the other sick cats. Before the day is even over, Talonstripe also comes down with the sickness, having likely caught it from Cliffkit when visiting his mate. Arrowsong injured his leg when falling out of a tree, and a few days after he visits the medicine den for herbs he also gets sick. After this happens, to try prevent anyone else gettin sick, all the coughing cats are moved to a small cave in the cliffside away from the camp.

The method to stop the spread works, but the sick cats don’t seem to be getting any better. The kits are spending most of their time asleep, too weak to do much moving, and Robinshadow is holding on to life by a thread. While the others aren’t getting much worse, they’re not getting better either. Skytail and Ashwing are trying everything they can, but the illness isn’t responding to normal treatments.

One morning, the sick cats wake up to Cliffkit’s weak meows. Robinshadow is lying still in her side, with Claykit right beside her. The two of them aren’t breathing, and when Arrowsong nudges them gently they’re discovered to both be dead. A vigil is held for them both, and they are buried later that day. Back at the sick camp, Lakeleap seems to be recovering slowly. The medicine cats have hit on the correct herb combinations, and before long both she and Arrowsong are back to normal. Cliffkit is slowly growing stronger, but Talonstripe isn’t responding to the treatment. He’s getting sicker and sicker, and before long he also is found one morning to be passed away. Now that he’s the only sick cat, Cliffkit gets the medicine cat’s full attention, and he’s back in the nursery in a few days.

Emberkit and Cliffkit are mothered by Froststar, and are visited by Snowpelt so often he might as well be having kits himself. He and Froststar become firm friends, having both lost their mates to the sickness.

While Arrowsong is sick, Snakeflight finds herself worried out her mind about him. When he returns, she greets him with a purr loud enough you could hear it all through the camp. She begins going out on patrols with him more often, and it becomes obvious to every cat except him that she has a major crush.

Year Three | Moon 2 | Leaf-bare
The number is 52, yet another safe moon...

Willowheart and Jaggedfang are caught fighting over prey- it's not like there's a shortage, it's simply a clash of their tempers and one thing leads to another. The fight is broken up by a furious Pearstrike before it can go too far, but they are both forced to get checked out by the medicine cats (and treated for the long scratch Willowheart left over Jaggedfang's eye) before being chewed out by Pearstrike, Rosepath and Cherrypeak altogether.
Willowheart insists that it was Jaggedfang's fault for attacking first and says that he always jumps to violence, but Jaggedfang hisses that Willowheart has been purposefully goading him into attacking for days, doing a bunch of little annoying things and his boiling point was when she purposely took his mouse.
They both end up with apprentice duties for a moon since "they're both acting like petulant kits!" according to Cherrypeak, but it does nothing to quell the resentment against each other.

Willowheart vents to Amberdawn about how frustrated she is and how she's jealous of his good relationship with his own siblings... ever understanding, Amberdawn listens to her woes and sympathizes with her. He does suggest a few fixes as well; trying to see Jaggedfang's perspective, for example, but Willowheart pouts and groans about how he thinks he's perfect and she can't see eye to eye with arrogance like that.

Hazelpaw finds a kindred soul in Jaggedfang, who has to keep going back to the medicine cat den to get his eye treated. Jaggedfang tries to convince Hazelpaw that they just need to stand up to their siblings, and that they can't let themselves be pushed around by those four bullies.
Hazelpaw smiles, but quietly tells Jaggedfang that it's okay, really, that they understand that Pearstrike and their siblings blame Hazelpaw for not being able to save their sibling Applepaw or father Fogstorm. They blame themselves for it too.
Jaggedfang insists that it's not Hazelpaw's fault and that the young cat is simply more talented than the rest of their siblings! Again, Hazelpaw appreciates the sentiment, but goes back to dressing his wounds and says nothing more.

Briarpaw, despite being one of the smallest apprentices, defeats Cricketpaw in their combat assessment with a sharp bite that actually draws blood. Cricketpaw screeches and screams that she's dying, and that Briarpaw is a monster, but Raven is quick to come to Briarpaw's defense. Back at camp, Leafshine hears of what happens and thanks Raven honestly for sticking up for her son.
Pearstrike reprimands Cricketpaw for her dramatics after getting her neck checked out and cleared by Polarsight.

Foxfoot and Blizzardpelt take their kits out hunting- Lightpaw, Frostpaw and Icypaw blend in very well with the snow peppering the ground, and the two fathers are ecstatic when all three apprentices manage to bring back something. They lavish their kits in attention and praise, and even Cherrypeak tells them that they should be proud of themselves- hard won compliments.

Year 3 - Moon 3 - Leaf-fall 3/3
Roll: 90
Strange scents on the twoleg place border make the clan wary of the kittypets straying over again, and patrols along there are doubled. However the cat that finds out the source isn’t any of the extra patrols, instead when Ashwing is out gathering herbs he finds a fresh instance of the scent, leading him to a small hollow under a tree just outside of the border. He goes in cautiously, having not enough battle training to hold up in a real fight.

To his surprise, all he discovers is a pair of cats, who seem to be mates. The female has a nasty infected scratch over her left eye and ear, and the male is bruised and battered. They both seem near starvation, neither looking like they’d eaten in days. He gently introduces himself to the frazzled pair, without mentioning MistClan, and asks them what happened. While they’re a bit hesitant at first to open up to a complete stranger, his gentle words and reassurances soon get them to talk.

Their names are Ray and Clover, and apparently they used to be kittypets next door to each other. Clover’s twolegs moved out though, leaving her behind. She waited for days, hoping they’d come back, but after a while she accepted she was alone. Since she and Ray were friends, she went over to his house and he tried to convince his housefolk to take her in, but they refused and he left with her rather than stay with his owners.

They wandered around for a while, eating what they could find in the twoleg waste areas. Eventually they came upon a group of cats living together, but when they asked to stay with them for a while they were driven out of the area, followed by hissed threats backed up with claws. Ashwing interrupted them there, asking if the groups leader was a large dark brown tabby male, as he was the leader of the group that had attacked them. He could tell the pair was curious about the ‘them’ that he mentioned, but let it drop, only nodding and continuing.

Clover’s injuries were getting worse, and Ray had no idea how to treat them. They heard rumours from loners and kittypets around the clan’s area about a group of wildcats that all lived together, and though they’d been driven out by a group before they had to do something. Neither of them could hunt with any skill, and as he could see they were slowly starving.

Knowing Froststar wouldn’t bring strangers into the camp so soon after she’d kitted, Ashwing told them that he knew how to treat Clover’s wound, and would be able to teach Ray to hunt while his mate was healing. He accepted gratefully, and after Ashwing had carefully covered and treated her wound, he advised Clover to sleep while he and Ray went hunting. The excursion was moderately successful, with Ashwing catching a thrush and Ray managing to kill a mouse. They brought the prey back to Clover, and Ashwing told them he had to go but would be back tomorrow, hopefully.

He decided not to tell Froststar about the pair just yet, instead leaving them in their hollow at least until Clover’s injury was healed. That would take at least a moon, so he decided to wait until then to mention them to anyone else.
Did I get carried away here? Maybe. Do I regret it? Not at all.
