Hi folks! We're very sorry to hear you've experienced or are experiencing this. It's definitely not an intended part of your Flight Rising experience!

We are investigating and working on addressing this problem. In the meantime, we ask that you please report and block the individual sending you the private message, do not click on the link, and delete the message.

In general, you shouldn't click on links from people you don't know or who use URL shorteners in forums and direct/private messages. At best, it's poor etiquette to mask the destination url from another person on a forum or in a direct/private message. It's okay to hyperlink text by using BBCode because the recipient can still preview the url when hovering their cursor over it or inspecting the link. URL shorteners, on the other hand, actively prevent that safety check.

Please also be aware that services that offer to shorten a link do so not only to address character limits but for gathering metrics—aka, data, up to and including local city location—on a brand's audience, for the purpose of insights and advertising.

What this means is, you should always exercise caution when clicking links anywhere on the internet. If you aren't sure about the link, preview it either by hovering your cursor over the link/hyperlinked text or inspecting it. If you can't because the other person is using an URL shortener or you don't recognize the destination URL, don't click.
