I hate to be overly negative but I want to chime in on the seemingly popular opinion here that Keel looks unnatural and slapped on. I hope that seeing a wide distaste for it might prompt a touch-up on it but I do kind of doubt it will be changed. I can hope though.

While I understand the FR artists have their hands full and this is a demanding job, this gene looks like something that would have been released in beta testing. This doesn't look polished at all, it just looks like you guys went "crap we need a gene, this is finished right?"
Hopefully the next genes you guys put out look as great as the ancient breed genes.

Love the familiars! Not a huge fan of the gene... they look very stuck-on, maybe even glued on, instead of proper scales. I just spent a while in the scrying room trying to find something I liked about them, and unfortunately this is one gene that - if nothing's changed about it - I will be avoiding.

Imagine if they could fix it to look like a multi-colour gembound version!!

friendly reminder that it's okay to dislike the gene, but please be considerate toward staff and respectful when you voice your dislike for it.
