She was one of many, given a name that brought only questions about her purpose within the clan. It did not take long to realize or accept she did not belong; a fact that left her no doubt she was destined to seek out her proper place in the world.
Leaving the Southern Icefields required planning and strategy; something Leak was quite good at, as it turned out. She took weeks, months to research her course, obtain her gear, stash away enough supplies, but finally she was ready.
She departed early the morning of the Solstice, determined to keep to her schedule despite days with little light and bitter cold. Heading north, she made her way to the Frigid Floes where she might cross to the Windswept Plains. That destination was temporary; her goal was the land from whence her parents came; The Sea of a Thousand Currents. Though she had never met them and her communications had never been returned, her parents’ parents still lived there. Leak hoped the familial connections might prove useful, but she was prepared if they were not.
As with her planning, the trip took weeks. The journey north was typical of the Southern Icefields; cold, snowy, dangerous. The journey across the waters to the Windswept Plateau began well enough, but though she’d planned things out, she was unprepared for the power of the storms on the other side. Yet, she did not let it stop her. It took some time to get her bearings once she arrived, but within a day she was on her way once more.
She almost missed her arrival at The Sea of a Thousand Currents. In fact, she was well within the borders of clan territory and entering the Tsunami Flats before she recognized it. The oddest part of it was that, despite being dressed for the Southern Icefields, none of the other dragons appeared to think she was out of place; in fact, those she spoke with were kind and helpful in any way they could. Within a short time, she found a place to call her own.
Her mission, of course, too precedence before all else, but when she asked about her family, no one appeared to know of them. Leak was not discouraged. If anything, she was even more determined to seek them out. In the meantime, she would focus on solidifying her position within her new clan, for one thing was certain. She had come home.
