Ah Radical!
Ah Radical!
Please, oh, please, can we get back the visible empty spaces? I go to my Hibernal Den and see a whole lot of nothing, and have to go into Edit mode to see how many spaces I have, ugh! I am very visually oriented, and it's hard to translate the number, so to speak. Much easier to plan placements when you can see at a glance how many open spaces there are! I would have the same complaint about my lair if I weren't maxed out, but I can see it becoming an issue as dragons make their way into the HD. I haven't been able to get my head around it yet, when i can't SEE how they will fit in.
I agree. As from experience, those did help me figure out how many more dragons could fit into my lair.
I think I see a pattern here. People who play exclusively or mainly on mobile are happy. People who play on PC are not. I'm guessing this looks better on mobile somehow, which means this isn't going to change. Not sure I'm going to keep playing if it keeps looking like this. I thought I'd get used to it, but I'm not. The dragons are just too small, and last I checked I signed up to play a dragon breeding game, not a "bars and hearts with small dragon-shaped accessories" game.
This 100%! There is nothing “sleek” about the new layout. It’s a chunky layout that emphasizes the health bar rather than the dragons themselves. I do see the mobile users trend as well and as a user that uses both mobile and laptop it’s still an unappealing display. Even in mobile the dragons are tiny and pixelated to high heaven. Not to mention that it is a website and not an app and should be seen as such. I don’t think it’s extreme to quit a site if the layout just isn’t nice to look at. If it doesn’t change to look more... appealing I’m going to have to stop playing as well. It may be changed and I sure hope it is but if people don’t express their disappointment then staff will assume everyone is fine with it. An option to pick what lair layout you see would be great so people who do like the new one can keep it but users who don’t can change to the old.

@nohsara Like someone noticed the people who complain about new visuals for the most parts are using PC not mobile devices and on PC new changes don't look that great in my opinion.

Lets start with images of the dragons that now apear to be smaller when compared to old layout (I know this is only illusion). They also seems to be more bluried than the old ones wich kind of make them hard to look at ateast for me.

When I'm opening my tab first thing I see are not my dragons but bards and bigbuttons because for some reason inactive arrow buton buton is this big dark red spot on light background.

Currently I'm using this side at 100% and this is how this looks for me https://i.gyazo.com/09580466a1ced577d14cd385fd13785b.jpg . tTo summarize page with big buttons, bars everything else and then some small dragons. Setting 4 dragons in line helps made whole thing a little easier to eye but still isn't perfect.

I don't want to change to say for example 120 because than dragon images will be even more blurry.

Second thing I don't like like about new design is that many informations that were present in old lair tab were removed and it seems that there wasn't any good reason to do so. Informations like empty spaces, breeding cooldown measured in days (date is neat but having both would be great) link to the on the nesting grounds and now gone form lair perspective.

I don't mind new boxes i like they clean look but everything in boxes and around them seems to be more important than dragons itself. At least this is how I feel about this update as someone who mainly is using PC to play this game.

So, how do I move dragons around anyway? Like position wise

@Gryffion I use mainly my mac when I play (like 95% of the time), but the few times I do use my phone it is significantly less frustrating to use. Since they can't make a Flight Rising app, it was nice that they optimized the site for use on mobile.

I personally haven't noticed a difference in the resolution/blurriness of the dragon images, I guess I would need to have an image of the old lair to compare. I didn't notice the breeding cooldown thing before bc I don't breed my dragons often enough to have to worry about cooldowns most of the time, but yeah I agree it would be nice if the number of days was still displayed in addition to the date.

Here's what I see if I'm at 100% zoom in a fullscreen browser; slightly less vertical space than you see:
https://imgur.com/UyfaRzF

But I never use my browser in fullscreen (bc I like always having access to my home bar), so I actually see significantly less dragon-real-estate than your screenshot. I guess that bothers me a little bit, but I guess I just saw it as a worthy sacrifice for better usability:

The only visual change I guess I could say I don't care for is the familiar heart and the food bar. I don't think the food bar needs to be quite as thick as it is, and I think the heart could also be a little smaller, just to make the design feel a bit more tight and neat. While the same could be said for the number tabs and arrows and other stuff at the top, like I mentioned, I think it's worth it for those to be a bit bigger for usability.

@Coronation @Genevra I play 95% on my computer but very much appreciate the drastically improved mobile experience. Also, as I mentioned to Gryffion above, I have not noticed any sort of blurriness, and wonder if it simply looks that way to some people due to an illusion caused by the changing of other elements around the dragon. I don't have an image of the original lair, so I can't really say for sure. Also there's still all the same fun features and super nice and fun community here, you should stay! Also I'm sure your dragons would miss you. The staff I'm sure will always work to add improvements in the future. I've also looked at other pet sites that have truly awful designs (I'm not a web designer or anything, but I am an art major), and while FR's design isn't the most modern-looking by any means, it's still a million times better and more user-friendly than some of those other petsites (ex. chickensmoothie, sylestia, etc.) Anyways, that's my long-winded analysis. I've had other apps or games that I use change their UI in the past, and while my initial reaction was sometimes rejection, in the end I nearly always found that it was in the best long-term interest of said game/app/etc.

Also, just another small note: while in theory the option to see the old lair format sounds nice, I don't think it's really plausible. This game has been around since 2013. Imagine if they had made a toggle option for every single change they've implemented since then... the site would never have been able to truly move forward in time. I find that taking a wholistic view of things can really help put me at ease about any concerns about recent changes :)

Do we have to buy more space in our inventory for more dragons? Also I love the new update????????????????

@nohsara I see your points. Like I've told before I understand changes but still I think thay coud be handeled a little better than they are now. For me main lair pages are hard to look at at this moment beca use like I've told everything pop up more than dragons itself which hinders my experience.

I'm not using fr on mobile phone because of the constant padding, alignment issue (when I'm trying to move zoom in or do anything page keep shifting to state in which it was loaded eg. aligned to left and fully zoom out) and I still think that changes were necessary but I'm not sure if what we have now is worthy sacrifice because I think it could be handled a little better. Things like a little smaller bars/icons, different colors for buttons would solve this issue in my opinion and you will still have those buttons/ for mobile users.

Also it seems that on screens with smaller resolution new lair looks a little better than on screen with higher ones. At Least this is what think after checking your screenshots.

Unfortunately I can't find good new and old lair comparison images (with the same resolution and quality) so I can't say for sure that blurry dragons aren't just an illusion. But even if quality of the images stayed the same now it is easier to see thier imperfections.

I think i've already seen a visual comparison way back by someone else but here's one by me The dragon figure is not smaller or blurrier, and it might appear smaller because the hunger bar got magnified and the box graphic got resized? The figures didn't seem smaller to me, but i can see why they might look smaller to someone else I do agree that the new hunger bar is too tall, i'm sure it's ideal for phone users but i don't have one (a phone that can browse the interwebz), so. What i'll say that i didn't notice before is that the round corners of the box got prettier, i appreciate that. And aside from the thickness of the hunger bar, i like the style of the new one better.
