Alaric

BE-BE-BEEP BE-BE-BEEP

The horrible beeping of the alarm clock echoed through the room. The device sat perched on the edge of the small table beside his bed like some monstrous bird whose calls robbed him off all joy. Alaric was jarred awake by the ceaseless droning, his whole body tensing at the rude awakening. A series of grumbles that resembled those from a zombie rather than a human escaped him as he tiredly reached towards the alarm clock and fumbled around until he found the off button, smacking the table a few times when he missed. The man sat up and looked around the room, his eyes burning from lack of sleep. The morning had come so soon?! Well, that would happen when you went to bed at around four in the morning. How could he have so much energy at night but it was all gone by the time the sun rose? Why did the shop have to open so early?! He was his own boss, so why couldn't he open up at like five in the evening or something? This was the struggle he went through every morning, leading to him eventually finding enough willpower to stand up and realize that he needed to open early if he wanted to keep his shop.

With the grace of a dizzy cow, Alaric shuffled around his small room. After gathering some clothes, the man took a quick shower and dressed. His favorite mint green shirt, grey vest, and jeans. He always did like to dress nicely. Not like he was going to a business meeting or anything, but still nicely. Not long after, he made his way down the stairs to the floor the shop was on. His hair was still kind of a mess but his lack of coffee wasn't really leaving him in a mood in which he cared too awfully much. A loud yawn escaped him as he flicked his hand up a couple of times, the lights of the shop turning on with each movement. Telekinesis did have it's advantages for a tired psychic. The wares of the store were revealed as each light burst to life. A vast amount of antiques adorned the entire bottom floor, everything neatly organized and displayed. From ornate grandfather clocks, to antique weaponry, to primitives, to advertising and much, much more.

Walking behind the front counter into the small room which functioned like a break room of sorts, Alaric made a beeline for the coffee maker. After filling the back with water, scooping in some grounds, and pressing a few buttons, coffee was soon on its way. Moving to one of the cabinets, he grabbed his mug as well as the one for his employee Rhuzi. His own mug said "Don't talk to me before I've had my coffee" while the one he had bought for Rhuzi as sort of a 'I officially accept you as an employee' gift said "Life without coffee is Hell" which he thought was both true and a little fitting given Rhuzi's demonic heritage.

While the coffee was brewing, the man went over and unlocked the door to his shop and flip the sign in the window to say open. Afterwards, he made his way back to the break room to find the coffee had finished brewing. Finding the coffee cake he always kept around for morning such as these, he cut himself a slice and also cut a slice for Rhuzi whenever they got to work, setting it on a plate next to the coffee maker. Unable to wait any longer, Alaric filled his mug and took a long drink of the dark brew. Caffeine entering his system, the drink began to chase away any tiredness that remained in him. Coffee truly was the nectar of the gods! Topping off his mug, the man took his coffee and coffee cake out to the front counter and sat down on the chair meant for the one tending the register. Letting the caffeine and sugar help him get fully awake as he waited for anyone to stop by.

Kyon

The gentle light of morning shown through a crack in the curtains, stirring the centipede-taur from his slumber. His dark eyes lazily fluttering open to stare up at the ceiling in the early morning light. It wasn't bright enough outside for him to need to get ready for work as his alarm hadn't even gone off yet. That suited him just fine, though. A little extra time in the morning never hurt. There was always something he could do with that time around the apartment. The apartment itself was probably very large for a human and most likely wouldn't have been considered an apartment. However, it was the perfect size for those larger creatures like himself and his wife. To accommodate the size of larger creatures while still giving them an affordable place to live, Forest Nook had built an apartment building specialized for those larger creatures. That meant bigger rooms and a more open floor plan, which worked very well for people like Kyon who had such long bodies.

Turning his attention over to his wife, he couldn't help but smile as he saw her sound asleep while laying partially on his chest. It wasn't often that she would be cuddled up to him like this. While Kyon was someone who would show affection freely, he knew that Lorelei was a more reserved. So, it made him unbelievably happy. He gazed down at her lovingly, noting how beautiful she was when she was asleep. And when she was awake. And just all the time. She was always the most beautiful woman he had ever or would ever see. His centipede half coiled around just a little more tightly in a sort of hug. Turning to one side slowly, he gently pressed a kiss to her forehead, then her nose, then gave her a prolonged kiss on her lips. "Good morning, Lori." He whispered with a soft smile, gently pressing his forehead against hers. Spending a few precious moments with his wife was definitely time well spent. Although, now he almost wished that he wouldn't have to go to work at all.

Midnight
Enna groaned and threw something at their alarm. When that failed to make it shut up, they rolled out of bed, retrieved the alarm clock and the thing they'd thrown at it (which they now realized was a pillow), and began their day.
After making themselves presentable enough not to scare possible customers, they wandered into the kitchen of their apartment. Grumbling about society and unreasonable expectations of functionality before 10, they grabbed eggs, toast, and very caffeinated tea, and ate breakfast quickly.
Feeling much more ready to face the world, they dug out a necklace and ring. Always best to show off the merchandise, they thought, heading down the stairs to the shop underneath their home. Tucking themselves behind the counter, they pulled out a couple pairs of pliers and resumed work on their latest project.

((Alright. Hope this isn't too bad. Feel free to come bother Ozul))

Sunlight coming through the window was enough to alert the Naga he'd bot only forgetten to close the shades, but he'd left it open as well giving the subtle breeze which make his skin prickle. A long tail reached out and slammed the window shut-- louder than intrnded which made him a bit greatful he had no neighbors-- then flicked it over his face afterwards. The large coil of black snake in center of the bed would probably appear fairly intimidating to anyone who didn't know the naga well or reach up to his size.

Ozul slowly slid his tail off his face, yawning which flicked out a forked tongue and exposed long fangs. He pushed himself up on his elbows, ruffling short hair before looking around the room. With a hint of reluctancy, he slowly uncoiled the rest of his body and slid off the bed, brushing against some leaves of one of the many many plants in the appartment in the process. Perhaps having so many plants in such a smaller space was a bad idea given his size, but he couldn't really care considering the appeal of them along with how he could just open up the apartment more if he needed to by shifting some screens around.

He rummaged through his stuff, plucking out one his sleevless hoodies- and donning it without much hassle. Stretching out with numerous pops to his limbs and spine and left him feeling a lot less stiff, and definitlymore ready to start the day.

Slipping down stairs, he prepped the ovens and started on the first batches, noting that while he did skip breakfast he could always just snack on stuff during the day when buisness was slow. Not long later, he made his way to the front of the shop, laying out the first batches of things like different donuts, buns, and a few loafs of bread. Now to await the early morning bunch of customers who would come in looking for breakfast or whatever else.

Kamina had gotten up eaelier that morning, makingsure he'd have plenty of time do a few things before opening up his shop a bit later in the day. Half days were essential at times, so working in the afternoon always faired him better considering others were more often off work then and able to come in for fittings and such.

Double checking his outfit, he smoothed it down and messed with his hairclip to make sure it was safetly in place. He brushed over the soft feathers and smiled to himself in the mirror, more than pleased with his appearance. Still, that was enough preening for the day until he got what he needed to do done. Maybe if he had enough free time he could go float around in the park's pond for a while...

He slipped out of his apartment, chirping smooth greetings to any neughbors he happend to pass by in the hall or at least a slight smile to the less talkative ones. Making his way down the street, he silently picked through the names of the shops until happening upon the one he'd been looking for first.

Smoothly, he swept into the antique store. "Good morning Alaric~! Well, that is assuming you've had coffee by now." He grinned at the shop owner as he strode up to the counter. "Get any new pretty or magical things in lately? I've especially been needing more blue" Kamina tapped the jewel on his hairclip as reference for color. He crossed his arms on the counter, leaning aginst it slightly, tilting his head in a curious and almost bird-like manner.

((I'm subscribed! And it was good, @.AbyssRanger :3 I hope mine is, too XD))

It was springtime. The days had lengthened and become warmer, which made conditions perfect for Lorelei, who did not do well in the cold. The world beyond the window was surely beautiful, but Lorelei was currently missing it at the moment. Even with some of the sunlight from outside making its way inside through the small slit in the curtains, she stayed sleeping. How heavy she slept was about as heavy she weighed. It would take more than a little sunlight to wake her up.

Kyon seemed to know this.

Lorelei was currently in the middle of a dream, albeit one that was rather blurry, so it was uninteresting from the beginning. Everything else was working just fine, so she was puzzled when she suddenly felt something coil around her, but was unable to tell what it was--the way things worked in dreams was certainly something that was beyond her. Following were soft sensations on her face. First was a gentle feeling on her forehead, and then her nose, and finally on her lips. Lorelei felt her face scrunch up a bit for a second before her eyes started to open and adjust to their surroundings. She was back in the room she and her husband shared. The only source of light seemed to be from a small slit in the curtains. Pressed against her forehead was Kyon. Wrapped around her was much of his centipede half. Lorelei softly smiled and patted some of Kyon's centipede half. Her husband was more open with his affections, but Lorelei would try to return them with small actions. She was just someone that had trouble conveying her feelings towards those she cares about.

"Good morning, Kyon," Lorelei murmured as she carefully stretched some of her legs. She glanced over at the window. "Morning seemed to come quickly," she mused.

Rhuzi
Rhuzi fell out of bed with a jolt their alarm clock sounding loudly. The curtains were drawn, the TV left on, radiating blue light from whatever game they had fallen asleep playing. With a start, they realized that they had a shift this morning, like usual, and would be late if they didn't dress quickly.
Springing up from the floor, and flicking the TV and console off, Rhuzi scrambled around the floor to find something decent for the day. Flinging aside dirty clothes, they found a dingy shirt, a zip up hoodie and torn jeans.
Quickly, they rushed out of the house, spread their wings and flew to the antique store, landing on the roof and scrambling down. As they opened the front door, they shrunk their wings and tall, and shortened themselves from the 6'7 they had stood at to 5'7.
"Morning Alaric, sorry I'm late, alarm wasn't set properly-" Rhuzi huffed as they made their way into the store, waving to their manager and noting his ruffled hair and a customer nearby as they finished, "Gonna grab some coffee in the break room."
With a hurried dash, they slipped into the breakroom and found a mug, with "Life without coffee is Hell" printed on it, full, and a little tea cake. Rhuzi smield as they sat down to eat.

Mavris
Mav adjusted her skirt, made sure her shirt was tucked, and pulled on her boots. Double checking her outfit in the mirror, she nodded. A pale gold blouse with a crisp autumn leaf orange skirt, paired with a cute red trilby hat. Not the worse she had ever worn.
Her shift at the funeral home wasn't until later, so she jumped in her car, and drove to Forest Nook Library. There were some novels she was planning to check out, and hadn't had the the time until today. Mav was pleased to find the place opened, seeing as she was unsure of the hours.
Quietly, she walked through the doors, and made her way to the center desk, intending to ask for help finding what she wanted. There sat the owner, who's name Mav couldn't recall. She was pale, with dark hair that fell to her shoulders.
Mav hesitated for a second, looking at the woman, before shrugging internally to herself.
"Excuse me, I need some help finding a few books," Mav raised her voice, directing it at the woman.

Madigan

Madigan needed very little sleep, due to the raging blood of the wolf which seeped beneath her skin. Like fire, it ebbed and flowed as she did her morning run. The crisp morning air tasted delicious and the faint scent of the bakery drifted past her nose as she laughed, eyes sparkling in a maddened frenzy as she sprinted down the street.

Excitement and adrenaline already running through her system, she elected to make her morning rounds as this was when the stores would be opening. She could hear the tinkle of the bells of the shops and the sound of the small town starting to become as awake as she was. The first stop on the menu was always to see Alaric. There was something peaceful and pleasant about the antique shop, and the scents of the items always held her interest. It would be nice to see a friendly face this morning before she continued her run to her 'office' which doubled as her bedroom and a jail for those who were stupid enough to wrong the rules of the town.

She took a breath and made a line toward the shop, opening it to find Alaric was not alone. Kamina was there, the swan guy, he smelled strongly of bird with faint undertones of cigarette smoke. So much so that it made her wolf half a little on the hungry side, though she wouldn't outwardly admit it to him, she didn't want to scare him. She could smell Rhuzi as well, even though they weren't in the room at the moment, the unmistakable scent of charcoal, with the undertones of brimstone told her the demon was around. As she approached the table she could smell Alaric, the vague scent of his cologne as well as some kind of unidentifiable spicy undertone, as well as Coffee on his breath.

She smiled as she took a look around the room. "Still can't nix the Coffee, eh? I wish I could lend you my energy instead." She gave a barking laugh to Alaric and then turned to Kamina. "Morning Kamina. Someone's been smoking in the apartment next to you again. It's not bothering you is it?"

Qadira (Q)

Qadira woke to the sounds of birds, a gentle waterfall and sweet whispers of wind. It came from her phone, which woke her each morning with the gentle murmurs of nature. It always put her in a good mood, waking to such pleasantness. She sighed and slid out of her bed, shedding her pajamas and walking naked across the floor to the shower on the upper level of her house. It was freeing, living alone, she could do whatever she wanted, including make a mess of her house. Though clothes laying around set off the feng shui and made her crazy so she preferred not to leave anything lying around. Still, she enjoyed other little pleasures, like walking around naked and drinking directly out of the milk carton. If her mother knew.. she let out a laugh at the idea of the scolding from her mother.

In the shower she sang, and she used her favorite scents to scrub her hair and body clean. Roses and peaches, natural and wholesome. Her hair she blew dry and she applied just a bit of makeup, enough to highlight her lips and her eyes. A smile crossed her face as she decided to do a few morning stretches, pulling out the kinks in her body as she dressed in a navy blue short dress with dark purple patterned knee length leggings beneath it. Perfect for in between weather like today. She spun and enjoyed the soft flowing fabric against her skin.

Moving down her stairs with poised delicacy she'd never been more happy that her store wasn't open this early in the day. She did only a few classes a day, and today her classes didn't start till after noon sometime. Which meant she had the morning to spend outside. Today.. she had to do a few errands.

A smile and she made her way to the front of her shop, making sure everything was in place before grabbing a small handbag and heading outside. The door locked behind her she started off down the streets. This early in the morning, there was only one place she needed to go, and that was to the bakery for bread. Chiabatta if she could get it, maybe some Naan or flatbread if Ozul had made some for her. She strode off toward the store and down the street.

With a happy hum she opened the door and strode into the bakery, inhaling the warm scent of bread and sweets with a pleased expression on her face. "Good morning there Ozul." She smiled as she strode into the bakery, noting the few loaves of bread and breakfast items awaiting other customers. She sashayed toward the counter. "I need to get some Ciabatta this morning, Madigan loves your bread, won't eat sandwiches without it, which means she will forget to eat sometimes." She laughed. "Oh and if you have it, I'd like some pepperoni bread? If you don't have any its cool, i'll just hang out until its done. I have plenty of time to spare."

Oliver loved lie ins.

Not only did he not have to be woken up by the most horrific-sounding alarm clock and get a good nights sleep, but he didn't have to deal with his students. Oliver loved his students, and he liked to think that he was the 'cool' teacher that everyone liked, but they were also, at times, frustrating, stressful, and very difficult to control. So it was true when people said that teachers enjoyed the breaks, even just the weekends, more than students.

Unfortunately, just how he had to set homework (and had been told multiple times that his pupils did actually have to receive it and do it in order to finish the course), he had to mark it. Packing the half that didn't have numbers scrawled on them into his backpack carefully (he swore that his students complained about crumpled pages just to annoy him), he decided the best place to work if he wanted to actually get things done was not the library (even now, as a teacher, he wasn't fond of the quiet there), but the woods. What was more calming than the true sounds of nature, assuming the true sounds of nature weren't a horrendous squawk? Oliver, deciding he was right, strolled out of his house, and into the forest, but not too far out of the borders. Spring was a lovely time, truly, looking at some of the flowers beginning to grow before settling there.

((I'm sorry if you're all waiting for me and I hope this post's okay, my alerts got kind of confusing so I did get pinged but didn't notice. I'm subbed now though.))

It did not take long for the bell above the door to jingle, heralding someone's arrival into the antique store. Alaric hadn't even finished his second cup of coffee yet. Still, it was more than enough caffeine to ensure that he was his normal, cheery self and not some kind of zombie cursing the morning. His gaze flickering to the door at the noise. He was expecting Rhuzi since they hadn't shown up for work yet, but it was another familiar figure who was walking over to the counter. "It is a good morning, since I am on my second cup. Not all of us can be morning people, Kamina." The man chuckled in response. Kamina was someone he had gotten to know pretty well, mainly through their mutual agreement. He'd give Alaric a discount on the clothes at his store and Alaric would keep an eye out for stuff he'd like and give him a discount on them. It worked out for Alaric since dressing nicely usually meant spending a lot of money. Looking nice came at a cost. Actually, the shirt and vest he was wearing right now came from Kamina's shop, in fact.

Another jingle of the bells above the door drew his attention to see who had just walked in. A blue, winged figure greeted his gaze. Unable to help the smirk from appearing on his face as they began to apologize for being late. "Don't worry about it, Rhuzi. I have some coffee ready for you in the back." No doubt that they had been up late playing video games. Not that he could really say anything about it, since he stayed up very late himself. Actually, the demon had gotten him into playing some multiplayer games recently and had a habit of organizing dungeon raids very late into the night. Not that Alaric minded, since he'd be up anyways. Although he wasn't very good at the games yet, Rhuzi was a very patient teacher.

Tapping a forefinger against his chin in thought, Alaric considered what he might have that could fit the swan's request. Since the majority of his inventory came from picking around human areas, magical items were not something he came across too often. Usually, that required buying off of someone magical or getting it from someone who had no idea that it was magic. But there was something very impressive that he'd picked up recently. Something that he thought Kamina would really like. "I think I might have something you will like. Oh, and I also have some buttons you told me to keep an eye out for. Give me a moment to grab the buttons from the back and I'll show you the item I think you'll like."

With that, he walked back into the break room where he kept things that were on hold for someone so no one else bought them. There he found his demon employee sitting down to have some coffee and cake that he'd left for them. "How you doing, Rhuzi? Get enough caffeine in you system yet?" Alaric chuckled, stopping to talk to the demon a bit. "We still on for dungeon crawling tonight? I promise that I won't die...as much." Making his way over to a small bin labeled 'Reserved' and picking up a small plastic bag containing three buttons, he looked back over to the demon. "We have a customer out there, so you can come watch if you want to possibly see a bit of haggling. Although, Kamina is looking to buy something pretty and blue, so you might want to stay here in case they try to buy you. Luckily for me, I'm not blue." He joked, giving them a playful smirk before making his way back out to the store front.

Once there, the man grabbed a pair of keys and unlocked the back of a glass display case near the counter. Taking the item he was looking for, Alaric locked the case back up before walking back over to Kamina. "Okay, so the buttons first." Setting the small bag on the counter in front of the man, he tried to gauge Kamina's reaction. The buttons were small with a mostly black metal base with an enameled white swan on the face. Seeing as Kamina seemed to like swan-based items, he thought it was a pretty safe bet to buy them for him. "Now, for that blue you were looking for." From the smile on Alaric's face, you could tell he was excited about this piece. Holding out his hand, an ornate, silver ring with a deep blue gem set in the middle which held a sort of star pattern over top of it from the lights in the shop. "It's a star sapphire in a silver setting. You notice that it doesn't have a tag on it yet, because I haven't had a chance to look into the past of it yet, but I can tell you that it was made in England because of its markings. And that it's called a star sapphire because of the pattern the gem stone holds when exposed to light shines on it. Here, you can have a look." He explained, handing it to Kamina.

A third jingle of the bells caught his attention. Wow, his little shop was busy this morning! Although, he soon found out it wasn't really a customer but still someone he enjoyed seeing. A light chuckle rumbled in his chest as the werewolf commented on his inability to not drink coffee. "I wish I could have some of your energy too, then I wouldn't have to drink coffee to not be a zombie. But it's nice to see you, Madigan. What brings you here today?"

Smiling a bit, Kyon nodded at his wife's musing. "It certainly did. Which is a shame, because that means we both will have to get up soon. Maybe I should wake up earlier? More time that I'd be able to spend with you." The centipede smiled, reaching up a hand to cup half of her face and gently tracing his thumb along her cheekbones. "Unfortunately, I have to get ready for work now." After giving her one last parting kiss, he gently uncoiled his centipede half and rose from the bed. Opening a draw in his side of their dresser, he grabbed the first shirt he found. Which happened to be a black, custom t-shirt made for his shop with the name Ink-tipede spelled out in colorful centipedes. Taking a quick shower and dressing, he made his way into their kitchen. Couldn't go out on an empty stomach, now could he? It would still be a while before he needed to be at work, so he had enough time to make some breakfast for himself and Lorelei.

Grabbing some eggs, bacon, and sausage from the fridge as well as a could pans to cook in, Kyon set about making breakfast. Given his biology, he naturally favored meats than to fruits or vegetables. Sure, he'd eat them but it wasn't as satisfying to his centipede nature as some good protein. Soon, the kitchen was filled with the sounds of sizzling bacon and the aroma of cooking meat.

(Sorry of Kyon's was kind of short >.>)

Nobody entered the shop. Then people continued to not enter the shop. After about an hour Enna got bored. "Screw this," they decided, standing up.

They grabbed their current project (a pendant with a minor rain spell worked in), a book they had borrowed a week ago, a pencil, and some paper. With everything they needed, they headed out for the library.

Three feet out the door, Enna stopped, sighed, and turned around. "Stupid brain of mine," they muttered. Running back up the stairs, they checked that their alarm was off, their lights were out, and their sink wasn't running. They headed back downstairs, stopped, and repeated the ritual four more times. Then they flipped the sign on the door of the shop to "CLOSED" and left for real.

Half an hour later they pushed open the front door of the library. Smiling, they breathed in the musty scents of paper and leather and ink. They headed straight for their usual spot in the back corner of the library.
