In my lore, gembond is a deadly disease where gem-like growths grow on the dragon. It is very hard to treat or cure. My clan has a specific strain of plague magic that halts the disease in it's tracks... by giving the dragon the clan's own disease. Any dragon with my plague disease has to stay within my clan in order to keep immunity to it. It's highly contagious and a painful death if regular doses -proximity to other infected- are not received. Many desperate dragons with gembond have sought permanent refuge in my lair in order to prolong their life to a somewhat normal existence. Unfortunately, Oragi did not find Ricar's clan in a timely fashion and the growths are so large and heavy that the other dragons must feed him. He can move around the lair well enough- given enough time to be where he's trying to go, but he cannot hunt nor venture outside the walls.

This here is Medousa, who is a subspecies known as a Geode Snapper! The Speckle and Crackle are supposed to represent the rock, whilst her Faucet wings are the gem in the center. I received her from a newbie giveaway very soon after I joined, and she has been one of the biggest staples in my lair ever since! I received him in a very similar manner to Medousa, it may have even been from the same thread though I'm not sure, and has never once left the first spot of my lair. I'm very happy with him! My lair actually used to be gemstone themed, and while I've moved on from that I still love gemstones. He might not be as obsessed with common minerals but he's a complete fool for expensive varieties such as Rubies, Sapphires, Emeralds and Gold. His obsession with lost treasures and prized findings cost him his right eye. You can't even talk to this guy unless you pay him for wasting his precious time. Extremely greedy and just as cold-hearted as an Ice dragon usually is, he's the perfect treasurer since there's nothing he wouldn't do to keep the stash safe and sound. However, despite his cold and harsh exterior, there is someone whom he loves more than riches - Simut. He wouldn't give her up for all the treasure on Sornieth. Even though he's cranky and protective of the clan's funds, he's actually a very big coward and hemophobic. He cannot stand blood and he faints the moment he sees it.
