ShadowGale didn't particularly trust any of the dragons here. Any one of them might be a threat. Then again, any one of them might be Valek or Nebula. She didn't want to run into one of them, and hopefully she wouldn't anytime soon.

Mantis stood looking into the long hallway of the academy. Dragons were bustling about. Mantis heard a purr. She looked back. Her cat had woken up from her nap and was resting peacefully on her hip. She reached down to pet her. As she looked up, a large skydancer came glaring at everyone in her path untrustworthly.

ShadowGale sniffed in apprehension when she spotted a Coatl. The serpent-like creatures were no better than Valek, a real serpent-dragon. Coatls and Spirals. Scheming, conniving creatures. Her cat though, wasn't much more special. ShadowGale prided herself in her Petalwing Peryton, and no feline could replace her Familiar, though she would have preferred a more vicious pet.

Mantis ducked her head as she realized that the skydancer was staring at her. Her cat jumped behind her. Mantis shook her wings. She almost died of embarrassment when she remembered how her wings had changed. She could hear the skydancer's thought of her. Mantis shook her head trying to get rid of the noise. She just could not.
Noises. Not chatter from the mouth, but some type of stirring. She froze. Her nightmare had come true. Students were coming. Noise flooded. Her cat realized a problem and tried to help by purring softly. Mantis made no move. The flowers containing her power all started to glow as did the ruins on her.
Mantis wanted to shrink, to hide. But no matter what she did, she was stuck, right under the coldening glare of the skydancer.
