hello! i want to make something for my forum signature, but i don't know what the dimensions for it are. i have some questions regarding signature sizing:
[list]
[*]how big (how many pixels) is the forum signature?
[*]if an image is larger than the signature's dimensions, will it be cropped/cut off?
[*]if i resize an image to fit the dimensions of the signature and add it, will the quality be somewhat preserved or will it end up looking gnarly? aka if i'm drawing something for the signature, is it alright to start on a larger canvas then size down, or should i just start on a forum signature-sized canvas?

rainstain max signature size is 525px wide by 100px tall, but it goes to 98px tall if you use columns.
wider images will shrink to fit (unless in columns), but if an image is too tall vertically, it will indeed be cut off.
resizing quality will depend on the ability of your art program and what settings it offers (some resizing algorithms are better than others). plenty of artists start big and size down, though, and personally this is what i would recommend for digital art in general. with a signature-sized canvas, you'll be able to immediately see how it looks at the end size, BUT it'll be harder to include smaller, subtler details, and any mistakes might be easier to see/won't blend as smoothly. that said - it does also depend a bit on your style, as well as things like what brushes you use, so you can always play around a bit to see which size works best for you.

thank you for the detailed answer! didn't know that columns would slightly cut the image size... will keep that in mind.
