TOPIC | Best coliseum dragons?
Hi
So I finally got two level 25 dragons to train a third to level 25 to sell.
And I was wondering if there are an particular breeds or elements I should work with/ are best for the coliseum?
I have read wind dragons are best for mages and earth are good for tanks.

Is that true?
And does breed matter on any?
Thanks

Not really and not at all. Wind was favored due to the effects of Disorient when it had a bug that caused extra loot to drop. Earth has no effect on tank builds. Earth is, however, a bad choice for mages who use Fossilize. Fossilize reduces damage taken by 90%.

Additionally tanks are terrible in the coliseum. At this time the coliseum is biased towards glass cannon type builds: heavy damage, quick attacks. It makes for faster battles so you get through more per minute. There are no battle stones to draw attackers so the extra HP is a bad trade-off for less strength and speed.

Element-wise it depends on what you intend to use them for the most. Check out this guide for the best elements per venue. Outside of venues you can level up other dragons in (Boreal Woods and above) element is irrelevant since your dragons will be over-powered for the venue.

For the training venues element matters most for double-fodder trainers and in the L25 venues. For specific builds check out Maki's guide.

I personally recommend 3 L25s minimum for anyone who's going to spend time in the coliseum. 1 double fodder trainer (any build) and a pair of 133 STR grinders. Put them together for an all-venue grind team (not the most efficient but it'll get you through) and the double-fodder trainer for exalting ($$$) quickly.

Hope this helps!

I want to live in Theory. Everything works there.

Have you checked the Gem MP for Gene and Breed scrolls before buying an AH listing from me ending in 5g?

There's no one right element for a particular type of build. Instead, you should be picking your dragons while thinking what you want to use them for—do you want a Mire Flyer? A Kelp Beds team? If you want them for anything other than a farming team (i.e. a team of three glass cannons that can one-shot almost any enemies), you'll want to be careful about what elements you choose, because different venues are better for different elements. I use this guide.

Breed doesn't really matter, because most specialized builds will require a Tincture to stat properly anyway. You can get away with not Tincturing a L25, but they're usually not as efficient as a properly-statted dragon.
