TOPIC | How do I make my dragons look different?
Hi. I am new and I created a guardian dragon and then I got a fae. I was wondering if there is a way to get them to have spots / stripes or a different design, because I see other people's dragons look different, like they have patterns in their wings.
How can I do that?
And how can I get another species of dragon?
Thank you.

@Cerima

Welcome to Flight Rising! First of all, check your Crossroads, about to send some munchies for your progenitors. Nice color choices on Kala!

To get markings on a dragon, you'll need gene scrolls from the Specialty section of the Marketplace here. To get other dragon breeds, you can either buy breed change scrolls from the same section and use them on your dragons, or you can get many new dragons affordably at the Auction House, or look in the Raffles and Giveaways forum for threads that give free dragons to new players.

Nest Rentals! I offer Fire nests here at 2kt a pair, no lunch boxes needed. Warning that I am a 12-hr shift night worker and might miss a day on incubation here and there. :(
Feel free to ping me anywhere! I try to subscribe to threads I create, but pings are always cool.
@Cerima

changing dragons patterns or species is done by Scrolls

Gene scrolls for all the different patterns.

And Breed Scrolls to change the species. Be aware that Imperial breed scrolls were a kickstarter Only item and are no longer available to buy from the site, And Wildclaw scrolls become available at limited times which the developers will announce either on the front page or in an announcement post.

I have another question. I am breeding my guardian and my fae. When I previewed their kids, they were all faes. Does this mean that babies will always look like the father?
I was expecting guardian babies :( I think they are cuter.

@cerima

It's a 50/50 chance, half Faes, half Guardians, because they have the same rarity. The more common a dragon is, the more likely it is to have one.

Faes, Guardians, Mirrors and Tundras have the most common rarity

Snappers, Pearlcatchers, Spirals, Ridgebacks, are common

Then, you have Skydancers and Bogsneaks.

Nocturnes and Imperials are rarer than the breeds above

The rarest are Coatls and Wildclaw.

@Cerima Breed inheritance relates to the rarity of the breed, genes inherit the same way. With a Guardian and a Fae, they're both Plentiful breeds, so there's a 50/50 coin flip chance on what the baby will be.

This Encyclopedia article goes deeper into rarity. https://flightrising.com/main.php?p=wiki&article=17 But the chances for a baby Guardian or baby Fae are equal with their one egg.
