TOPIC | Coli team building help?
I'd like to refine my coliseum dragons so that they can be as efficient as possible for farming and training. I'd like to have at least 1 Mire exalt trainer, 2 Golem Workshop farmers/trainers (mage and fighter), 2 farmers for all venues, and 1 or 2 Kelp Beds trainers (getting by with just one would be ideal). If any of these roles could be filled by the same dragon, that would be great! Any suggestions for the best builds? I currently have a few level 25 dragons, so I would like to make the best use of them before training new dragons:

For exact stats on all these builds check out Pyatiugolnik's Coli Builds List.

For the least amount of leveled dragons for most of what you want to do I'd suggest:

Mire: 119 STR flyer (Celestine)
KB: 2 126 STR (Zane, keep Rally for NotN)
GW: 133, 133, 129 INT (Libra, Glowwworm, never Celestine)
Grinders: 2 126 STR + 1 133 STR below the Boreal Woods and 2 133 STR and 1 126 STR BW and above.

That's 6 dragons and covers everything except training in the GW. Personally, I'd never rec training the GW. Battles already run 1-2 per minute already and you're better off money-wise going through as quickly as possible and leveling in another venue.

Poor Celestine isn't the best element for the higher levels although light makes a good second-tier mire flyer. Or, trade her for another dragon with a better element for the GW and put Glowworm in the Mire where she'll shine.

Hope this helps!

I want to live in Theory. Everything works there.

Have you checked the Gem MP for Gene and Breed scrolls before buying an AH listing from me ending in 5g?

I use this guide to look up builds:

http://www1.flightrising.com/forums/gde/2441268

Glowworm would make a perfect Mire flier (no weaknesses and two resistances), and Libra would make an okay Mire flier (no weaknesses and no resistances). I strongly recommend either of the 119 STR builds. I use the Monk build since it helps compensate for misses and can defeat bosses (the wartoad drops are nice), but since it uses Meditate instead of Scratch, it doesn't gel as well with Scratch-Eliminate grinding, so you may have more trouble using a Monk as a regular grinder in high-level venues. They're fantastic for venues where you can one-shot Eliminate things though.

Either would also make acceptable Golem Workshop dragons (Arcane has one weakness and two resistances; Earth has one weakness.) The best elements for golem workshop defensively are nature and fire (only weak to bosses; no resistances); the best offensive element for a mage is Arcane, but Wind and Earth are also good. You don't seem to have any mages of any of those elements, but mages are cheap, so maybe get another one if you want to have a golem workshop mage.

Unfortunately, none of your current dragons would be able to function as a two-fodder trainer in the Kelp Beds because of elemental weaknesses. The best elements in the Kelp Beds (defensively speaking) are Plague, Ice, and Water. Zane would work but you'd need to completely restat and stone him.

My suggestion is: Glowworm as Mire Flier or Monk, Libra as Golem Workshop grinder (with additional Arcane mage), and Celestine as part of a general grinding team with Libra or Glowworm.

Golem Workshop dragons tend to have low STR (dependent on being Rallied), so check in this guide if you want to use your golem workshop dragon as a general grinder. There's a section that lists "STR for 2-shot Scr+Elim" for all venues which could prove helpful. Even the lowest STR build on the guides list can still do well for most venues though.

@Nightwind @Kasaei Thank you both!

I won't be selling or trading Celestine since he's also part of a breeding pair, so even though he's not ideal I think I will have him be the Mire flyer. (I really don't want to get another eliminate when he already has one, lol)

I'd be okay with redoing Zane, so I think I'll give him the Leviathan build.

I think I'll make a GW team with Libra and Glowworm as fighters and a new wind dragon for a mage.

I'll also train a new dragon to be a grinder. Probably plague and with 133 STR, since I grind KB a lot. This one would always be with at least one other trained dragon, so would they be ok with everything in STR/AGI/QCK?

And maybe I'll train one of my progens for a Ghostlight build too, after I'm done with the rest.

Does this seem like a good array of coli dragons? Are there any holes I should be filling?

Please read the warnings for Leviathan--it's generally a very fragile build. I played around with it and decided it required too much attention for me.

133 STR doesn't do as well in the KB (126 is best, 129 is fairly good) because of the low QCK needed to get STR high. It might be better during the upcoming NotN because the special monsters are tougher than the current KB monsters (but not boss-level).

Generally, I suggest a minimal team for the coli (119 Mire flyer or 115 GR build + 2 133 and a mage if they want to try the GW). That usually works easiest for someone new who is leveling up their first trio. However, if you're more like me who live there forever and want to get the most efficient teams...

2 GR Ghostbusters (boss hunting with 2, leveling with 1), 2 Mire flyers (boss hunting/leveling), 2 KB 126 builds, 1 129 INT mage (well, more like 3 but I only use 1 now that the first turn bug is fixed) and 133s of various elements to best suit the CP, HR and GW. I've been here a while and I level up a lot of dragons.

For grinding I take my favorite trio of 133s and stomp my way through the lower levels.

Keep in mind that as a Light dragon Celestine is weak to two of the most common elements at Mire. It's doable, but if you are planning to train a lot at Mire it can get annoying very quickly. Personally I'd pick Glowworm or Libra instead, but I guess it depends on which venue you want to use more first, Mire or GW

Seconding about Leviathan - if you want to train at KB, two dragons with 126str is a better option

I'll mention that I run a Leviathan in the KB and don't have any real issues with it. It can be a bit fragile, sure but I only really ever have to back-out and start over once or twice per pair of fodder.

During that back-out you can also slap all the fodders points into VIT to let them tank hits better.

In terms of speed it might not be the best since it does require refreshes for starter mobs and refreshes on bosses. But once it gets going I don't see any real issue with it.

Granted I haven't tried the 126 STR build but if you're thinking of going Levi then I can say from experience that - at least to me, a casual exalter, it works just fine once you get used to it's quirks.

It is probably slower and more fragile though I wont try to argue that. But if speed isn't the most important thing then it might be at least worth trying.

I also have a Mire Flyer but I swapped from the Flyer to the Levi because I wanted the chance for elim to drop while still training 2 fodder. Since the Mire doesn't drop it.
