TOPIC | Help resizing an image
I'm trying to resize some images currently to make a signature button, but I drew them much larger and I can't find a way to resize them to the 100px by 90px size of a signature button without making them look very pixelated and weird. I've tried using a resizing website and it did not work. If anyone knows how I should do this, please tell me.
I also know this has to be possible since I have seen people with very smooth and complex signature buttons that look fine.

FR does not support the BBcode that re-sizes an image for you, so what everyone else does is use an image editing program such as: GIMP, Krita, Sai, or Photoshop, in order to manually re-size and touch up to keep the good quality.

then it needs to be re-uploaded to a third-party image hosting site in order to use it on FR.

@Anourou
I know how to post images. And I was using an art program. My problem is that when I resize it, it looks bad and can't be touched up to look the same due to the small size.

okay, let me ask: The Winter Solstice Raffle button in your signature. That is definitely more detailed than can be accomplished on a 100px by 90px area. So how did it get to that size and retain the detail?

As i did not create that raffle button, nor do i know if the owner of said raffle had it commissioned or not i can't answer that.

However, if you link me the image you're trying to re-size perhaps I can try working with it?

@Anourou Okay, here it is: (Like I said, it is [i]very[/i] big. I think that is probably part of the problem, but I don't know how to make it smaller without reducing the quality.) [img]https://i.imgur.com/tXc1DsF.png[/img]

@LightningShatter Okay, here's the image I was able to get with Krita [img]https://img00.deviantart.net/5fb0/i/2017/365/9/d/111_5_by_haroka-dbyic8r.png[/img] As to how I got it this sharp instead of pixelated was to first change the dpi/ppi from 72 to 1000. It made the picture much bigger yes, but also gave it better resolution. Next i shrunk it back to 900 pixels, and then kept shrinking it 100 pixels at a time to make sure it was looking okay. No problems. Once I hit 400 pixels with it still looking good, I dropped it straight down to 100 pixels, saved, uploaded it and then checked it in FR's Forum preview to make absolutely sure it would look okay on the site. If you want it to look any better than this, you'll need to up the dpi/ppi to over 1000 and shrink it from there. low dpi/ppi means pixelation when shrinking images.

Wow, that looks amazing. Thanks a ton, I didn't even think about DPI.

(Sorry for pinging you twice...)
I'm trying to do that with another image, but it says it's 96 DPI, not 72. I'm using Fire Alpaca though, would that make a difference?

I'm not Familiar with FireAlpaca, but as long as you're able to change the DPI with the program you shouldn't have any trouble. And changing it from 96 to 1000 dpi should give you the same quality as the other one.
