My old laptop was a dell insperon and I swear it was out to get me sometimes with how terrible and slow it ran towards the end of its life. It would lag every time I did a brushstroke in art programs and I just lived like that for years which is insane. I have no idea if this series is still made but do NOT buy one, almost everyone I've talked to does not like this computer either.
When I moved into my current house as a kid in 2012 there was something wrong with the wifi and only I ever experienced it. Constantly my devices would always be booted no matter what I did, especially if I was in my room. My parents just chalked it up to me complaining about nothing but it was very real, I'd always end up being kicked from the multiplayer 3ds games me and my online friends played at the time. My parents eventually tried booster routers and upgrading our plan but absolutely nothing would fix it. Then in December of 2019, years later, my parents tried to upgrade the wifi again and it just stopped working. Entirely. Like it got fried. We had to call a million times to get a repair man to come and look at it because they did not want to so close to the holidays. When we finally got someone to check on it, it turns out the wifi infrastructure in our house was completely fried because it hadn't been updated since like 2000. No wonder it couldn't handle all the devices in our house and the upgrades, it was simply too old to. It definitely has improved since then, but I still have occational problems with wifi in my room maybe the room is just cursed.
I don't really use my 3Ds much anymore because something is wrong with the headphone jack. Sometimes it just doesn't work, sometimes its muted with static, other times its only playing in one ear, and it can shift between all three when you nudge the plug a bit. I read online that this can be because the jack is cracking of the motherboard or something so I opened my 3DS up and it definitely is, which is disappointing, but when I closed it and tried my headphones again it was fine? I haven't turned it on since so I have no idea it it stayed this way but it was very weird.

I'd like to preface this by saying I'd owned this phone for three years previously, and still have it to this day and have never had this happen again.
My dad had gone out grocery shopping and my mom realized that she forgot to put something on the list she gave him. She tried texting it to him but he wasn't reading it so she tried calling, nothing. She then told me to try calling him because her phone was about to die. I go to his contact on my phone with his saved number, call it, and it dials for a bit. Then, I get a voice that I've never heard before that asks "Who is this?" I'm surprised so instead of hanging up I ask who the man who very much is not my father is. He says his name is Jack, which is not my dad's name, and I panic so bad I hung up.
I waited a few minutes and called the number again, my dad picked up and I managed to tell him what else we needed from the store and he got home within like 15 minutes of that. What was weird afterwards was when I looked at my call history I realized that the first call to the Jack person didn't have my dad's number listed, but I didn't type in the number to call, I hit the number from my saved contact info for him so I have no clue how the phone managed to mess up which number it dialed and to this day I'm still confused about it.

A while ago I dropped my phone and it wasn't turning on. I panicked and dropped it again, and it started working normally after that.
I don't recommend this strategy, as it did crack my screen lol

that's the truly oldschool method of fixing any tech

I have this thing with my laptop where sometimes explorer decides to stop working and either restart itself or I have to manually restart it from task manager. Not that weird, its a thing that happens sometimes, and it doesn't really do much except make my desktop background black and the file explorer won't work.
The weird part is that I had two folders on my desktop where the icons would get super glitchy when it started happening. Like it's not like they disappeared or got a default one or anything, but they would get really distorted or just look like straight up static. I ended up deleting them, and explorer still stops working but nothing else on my desktop has done that since.
And now the microsoft store icon on my taskbar is weird, like its the correct icon except its upside down and looks like if you cut it in half, and then flipped the halves? So they face like away from each other? Microsoft teams did that too for a bit, except it had the spotify logo doing it instead, but that eventually just fixed itself.
Also @
KarateOdysseyman, as someone currently using an inspiron 7415, yeah that checks out. It's not like,, a terrible laptop but also it is just kind of a pain in the *** for a laptop that's like not even 3 years old.

Sometimes my headphones let out this loud popping sound in the middle of being used and I have jumped out of my skin on more than one occasion because of it.

OHHH BOY this thread was made for me I feel like. this is going to be very TLDR and I apologize in advance LOL
My friends and family all joke that I was cursed by a vengeful technology wizard. It's not for lack of any know-how, my dad's worked with computers my whole life and has taught me how to maintain my machines. It is to the point I have been banished from at least three local repair shops. I had a repairman who'd worked with laptops and desktops for 20 years tell me, after I'd brought back the machine he repaired after two days with an entirely new problem that my laptops had been "the most cursed machines he'd ever had the task to work on" and that he had "never in his life" seen half the problems I came in with. My curse has claimed many, including but not limited to:
An old IBM thinkpad that the hard drive just... dropped out of the bottom of one day. The backlight also burnt out in that particular machine almost monthly like clockwork.
Another thinkpad that the hinge essentially disintegrated on and i could only use leaning against a wall, the bottom of it also gave me at least two second degree burns.
My old Moto G Stylus that would work unless brought to a specific area of town where everyone else's phones on the same plan bought at the same time would work perfectly fine. At which point it would begin to visually glitch and switch to emergency calls only.
I had not one. Not three. But FIVE separate microsoft surface laptops have battery inflating issues after owning them for under a year. One of which when brought to a brick and mortar store, I had to sign paperwork for a biohazard bucket because the techs couldn't legally let me leave the store with it, as it was classified as an explosive. I finally stopped accepting their "please don't sue us" replacement computers after the second one of their chargers literally lit my pants on fire. Also their proprietary stylus that only works with their screens once flipped to only recognizing inputs BACKWARDS for a month and a half before righting itself.
An SSD who's platter just shattered one day. No impact, no jostle, just decided to retire itself.
a Lenovo laptop that would only connect to Youtube on the internet for days at a time and not load any other page with no rhyme or reason.
When I had the drives for that laptop temporarily moved to another computer so the first could have a scorched motherboard looked at, the donor laptop broke in three days, and in moving the SSD back caused the original Lenovo to freeze at the windows screen and make a horrific screeching noise until turned back off.
There was also the pair of bluetooth headphones I owned that got stuck in a loop of turning themselves on and off repeatedly and didn't stop doing this until the batteries ran out. Nothing I did fixed this and I just decided to call them a loss after a while...

I had the weirdest issue with one of my old computers.
The screen would often just be dim. Now you may be thinking, that's not weird at all! Just turn up your brightness!
Okay, but that wasn't what it was. No, this was something else happening. You could tell because the screen would be dim but the mouse cursor would be max brightness. You could easily tell by looking at the cursor over a white background. On top of the monitors' brightness being 100% and it occasionally suddenly happening out of nowhere, of course.
The only thing I was ever able to find on this was that it was possibly a power-saving feature........................................................... for laptops. Except that my computer was not a laptop, it was a desktop, and this still didn't really make any sense because it would randomly turn on.
I was never able to find out what this was, or fix it. That computer had other massive issues anyway, like its idle temperature on the GPU being 100c for no reason at all.

I'll make a nice signature eventually :(

Last night my computer refused to turn off. I walked out of the room after noticing the monitor was off (odd) and tried to choke it out via the power button. Came back and the tower was on again! Got into a fight with it several times before smacking it and it stayed off. It restarted wrong so I smacked it again, then it worked fine.
I got it for free (from someone who really regrets giving it to me, sucker!) so our spats happen every once and awhile. Nothing a good smack to the side of it can't fix apparently.

What do you imagine the effects of a conscious observer might be?
