Poor vessels are, indeed, fodder. Y'know, the whole situation was basically the Pale King and White Lady having a breeding project to get the perfect Vessel, and using the rejects as fodder. A couple of them accidentally became permas in other lairs, though, since they escaped the Fodder Pile.

Question is: What god were they exalting to? The Shade?
