Before you is a large door set into the side of a rather imposing mountainside. Big enough for the tallest Imperial and the widest snapper to stride through with ease. If you were to reach up and tug the door open there'd be the sound of creeking hinges, a flutter of dust from above and a steady groaning as the heavy metal door swings open, revealing a tall vaulted room. Large lamps hanging from long chains dispell the darks of the hollow mountain. The light dancing of a untold number of colourful spines of books stacked in rack after rack that lines the perimetor and then spills into a maze like structure filling the interior. Stacked up beside the neatly ordered shelves are yet even more books and scrolls, scattered about as if at random. Take a few steps in and you'd see a desk before you, the top littered with parchments, papers, quills and books. A loud thud, muted into a shameful silence by all the books, echos behind you as the mighty door swings shut on its own. A few moments later and there's a flitting flutter of mad wings and a rush of air and before you is a bright light bobbling around atop the head of a spiral. His head parly hidden under a long dark hood, shining bright wings fluttering, his tail dancing and claws clutching a book that he deposits on the table. "Messymessymessy. Booksbooks thiswhere everywhere!"

"What you here for?!?"

The spiral regarding you with bright arcane eyes as he looks you and your companions up and down. Though he's mostly holding still, if spiralling around himself as spirals do, there's something about him that makes it, uncomfortable to stare at him for too long. Magical books

Dragon books
Temeraire by Naomi Novik - the first of many books by Naomi that begins her tale of dragons set within our own world in the Napoleonic Era. Come and see dragons and cannon; ships and aviators. One of the best dragon central books out there and, I think, a must read for any dragon fan. Further books in the series steadily take you on a tour of the world in this time, seeing different breeds and peoples and the multitudes of change as dragons fight to find their corner in a war torn and changing world.

Dragonflight by Anne McCaffrey - the beginning of one of the most long running and epic of dragon focused stories. Enter the world of Pern and its dragonriders as they seek to protect the world from the deadly falling Threads. A rare blend of sci-fi and fantasy (in truth full sci-fi but so much feels fantasy it deserves to sit between - at the very least this is sci-fi with the fantastical mystic of the universe).

Dragon Champion by E.E. Knight - the start of a unique series as this one focuses on the dragons as the heroes and focus of the story. Pure dragons too, no transforming and playing at being people, no dragon riders; this is pure dragon! The first three books in the series each follow one of three hatchlings from a single clutch of eggs. Three hatchlings that become dragons that will eventually come to shape their whole world!

A Natural History of Dragons: A Memoir by Lady Trent (Memoirs of Lady Trent Book 1) by Marie Brennan. A rare treat in a natural history style journal all about dragons during the Victorian era.

Seraphina by Rachel Hartman - the first of a new and on-going series. Enter a world of music and maths. Of dragons the politics of a peace between man and dragon that hangs in the balance with warmongers on both sides wrestling to return to the chaos of war.

Returner's Wealth by Chris Riddell and Paul Stewart - welcome to the wilds of the west, complete with added dragon! First book of the Wyrmeweald series. A more mature/teenage focused series by the duo of authors and a pair producing rare books with more illustrations than your average story. So be ready for a joy of words and artwork.

Younger/teen/all ages
Dragon Rider by Cornelia Funke - adventure, bravery, sacrifice and a quest to protect the dragons of the world. A title for younger readers and young readers at heart.

Eragon by Christopher Paolini - the first book of the Inheritance cycle. See a local farmboy rise to become a mighty dragon rider alongside his dragon Saphira.

Wings of Fire: The Dragonet Prophecy by Tui T. Sutherland - first book of the popular Wings of Fire series. A popular series that's still being written (11 books so far and still going strong). A read for all ages!

Dragonology by Dugald Steer - A series of books on dragons, written in a mock-natural history style. A beautiful collection of stories/world building all focused around mighty dragons.

General Fantasy/fiction

The Colour of Magic by Sir Terry Pratchett - any time you see someone knighted for their writing you know what's inside has got to be good; when you see most book stores dedicate a whole shelf (often more) to a single work you know its got to be good - yeah this is good stuff! Colour of Magic is his first book in his Discworld series and takes you to the world of the Disc which floats through space atop the backs of four elephants (where there once were five) who stand upon the great A-Tuin - a giant turtle that flies through space. It's a crazy world of magic and oddness. Each book can be read alone, but if read in order provides a fantastic experience watching this world mature and change; seeing characters such as Vims the Nightwatchman; Granny Weatherwax the witch and many many many more!

John Dies at the End by David Wong Horror, fantasy, comedy and 'sou sauce'. What could possibly go wrong!?

Neverending Story by Michael Ende - enter a world of dreams and luck dragons. A powerful creative far reaching story of adventure and discovery and of the joy of stories.
If you never read the book then at least see the fantastic classic film (of the same name); and if you've seen the film know that the film covers only the first part of this book; there's so much more within these pages!

A Court of Thrones and Roses by Sarah J Maas
Feyre's survival rests upon her ability to hunt and kill – the forest where she lives is a cold, bleak place in the long winter months. So when she spots a deer in the forest being pursued by a wolf, she cannot resist fighting it for the flesh. But to do so, she must kill the predator and killing something so precious comes at a price ...

Dragged to a magical kingdom for the murder of a faerie, Feyre discovers that her captor, his face obscured by a jewelled mask, is hiding far more than his piercing green eyes would suggest. Feyre's presence at the court is closely guarded, and as she begins to learn why, her feelings for him turn from hostility to passion and the faerie lands become an even more dangerous place. Feyre must fight to break an ancient curse, or she will lose him forever.

The Grisha trilogy by Leigh Bardugo followed by Six of Crows
In a lavish world where darkness reigns and science collides with superstition, Alina Starkov has the power to save her country…but it comes with a price in The Grisha Trilogy by New York Times-bestselling author Leigh Bardugo.

The Cruel Prince by Holly Black
Jude was seven when her parents were murdered and she and her two sisters were stolen away to live in the treacherous High Court of Faerie. Ten years later, Jude wants nothing more than to belong there, despite her mortality. But many of the fey despise humans. Especially Prince Cardan, the youngest and wickedest son of the High King.

To win a place at the Court, she must defy him–and face the consequences.

As Jude becomes more deeply embroiled in palace intrigues and deceptions, she discovers her own capacity for trickery and bloodshed. But as betrayal threatens to drown the Courts of Faerie in violence, Jude will need to risk her life in a dangerous alliance to save her sisters, and Faerie itself.

To Kill a Kingdom by Alexandra Christo
Princess Lira is siren royalty and the most lethal of them all. With the hearts of seventeen princes in her collection, she is revered across the sea. Until a twist of fate forces her to kill one of her own. To punish her daughter, the Sea Queen transforms Lira into the one thing they loathe most—a human. Robbed of her song, Lira has until the winter solstice to deliver Prince Elian’s heart to the Sea Queen or remain a human forever.

The ocean is the only place Prince Elian calls home, even though he is heir to the most powerful kingdom in the world. Hunting sirens is more than an unsavory hobby—it’s his calling. When he rescues a drowning woman in the ocean, she’s more than what she appears. She promises to help him find the key to destroying all of sirenkind for good—But can he trust her? And just how many deals will Elian have to barter to eliminate mankind’s greatest enemy?

Sabriel by Garth Nix
Sent to a boarding school in Ancelstierre as a young child, Sabriel has had little experience with the random power of Free Magic or the Dead who refuse to stay dead in the Old Kingdom. But during her final semester, her father, the Abhorsen, goes missing, and Sabriel knows she must enter the Old Kingdom to find him.

With Sabriel, the first installment in the Abhorsen series, Garth Nix exploded onto the fantasy scene as a rising star, in a novel that takes readers to a world where the line between the living and the dead isn't always clear—and sometimes disappears altogether.

Hawksong by Amelia Atwater Rhodes
DANICA SHARDAE IS an avian shapeshifter, and the golden hawk’s form in which she takes to the sky is as natural to her as the human one that graces her on land. The only thing more familiar to her is war: It has raged between her people and the serpiente for so long, no one can remember how the fighting began. As heir to the avian throne, she’ll do anything in her power to stop this war—even accept Zane Cobriana, the terrifying leader of her kind’s greatest enemy, as her pair bond and make the two royal families one.

Trust. It is all Zane asks of Danica—and all they ask of their people—but it may be more than she can give.

Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi
They killed my mother.
They took our magic.
They tried to bury us.

Now we rise.

Zélie Adebola remembers when the soil of Orïsha hummed with magic. Burners ignited flames, Tiders beckoned waves, and Zélie’s Reaper mother summoned forth souls.

But everything changed the night magic disappeared. Under the orders of a ruthless king, maji were killed, leaving Zélie without a mother and her people without hope.

Now Zélie has one chance to bring back magic and strike against the monarchy. With the help of a rogue princess, Zélie must outwit and outrun the crown prince, who is hell-bent on eradicating magic for good.

Danger lurks in Orïsha, where snow leoponaires prowl and vengeful spirits wait in the waters. Yet the greatest danger may be Zélie herself as she struggles to control her powers and her growing feelings for an enemy.

How to Draw books

DragonArt / DragonArt Evolution by J. "Neon Dragon" Peffer - two books by our very own dragon artist which set a good grounding on how to begin to draw dragons. Starting at the very basics of the construction lines and building up to more complex details; she takes time to outline each stage rather than just showing a "lines then detail" approach. Well worth a treat for any artistic novices or those just getting started with dragons.

The Fever Series by Karen Marie Moning
"My name is MacKayla, Mac for short. I'm a sidhe-seer, one who sees the Fae, a fact I accepted only recently and very reluctantly.

My philosophy is pretty simple - any day nobody's trying to kill me is a good day in my book. I haven't had many good days lately. Not since the walls between Man and Fae came down. But then, there's not a sidhe-seer alive who's had a good day since then."

When MacKayla's sister was murdered, she left a single clue to her death, a cryptic message on Mac's cell phone. Journeying to Ireland in search of answers, Mac is soon faced with an even greater challenge: staying alive long enough to master a power she had no idea she possessed - a gift that allows her to see beyond the world of man, into the dangerous realm of the Fae.

Firstly I must tell you about this glorious woman called Marie Brennan

She have written these 5 books (I'm halfway trough number 4!) about a woman called Lady Trent. The style of the books are in a Memoir form were Lady Trent explains some of her adventures she's had in her long life! Now, the cool part about this is that they all are about dragon and the since behind it!

The books take place in a victorian age setting in London(i think) were you know, woman shouldn't be obsessed by Dragons, but Lady Trent is! So the book tackles a lot of different subjects as Dragons and their physic, female status and religion and other fun things that might happen when one must spend time with a tribe out who know where! The books themself are not very thick but is written in a somewhat old fashioned style so I (not having english as first tounge) reads them a bit slow.

But they are super fun! Its just like a real world, with dragons that we don't know much about! The series is very new with the first book; A Natural History of Dragons that came out in 2013. And this is a book series that have had me laugh, get angry (I threw the book away once and just thinking about what happend still makes me mad) and cry.

Overall I would give it a rating of 4/5 and a must read for dragon fans!

My all time favorite book is John Dies At the End by David Wong

It's such a perfect blend of horror and comedy and weird as all heck but also has???v good writing like, there's also two very good sequels, This Book is Full of Spiders and What the Hell Did I Just Read

It's about two men, who have a reputation for dealing with the paranormal in the town of undisclosed, who end up coming across a strange drug dubbed "soy sauce" that lets them see the unseeable.

The spiral bobs his head and fishes out a book that hangs to his side, flipping through the pages and scribbles down the names and authors presented to him by the pair.

"Goodgood, more books to catalogue and add to the archives!"

Moments later and the offered books are out of their claws, stamped with a library stamp and suddenly being whisked away to be shelved
