Legs Nose Robinson, AKA my favorite Doctor Who themed band out there. There was a small parody of the song "Hey Mickey" in an episode of Doctor Who. These guys expanded it into a whole song about that particular character and episode. It was glorious. They also did a mashup of one of their older songs with "The Hero of Canton" from Firefly. Basically, they do gloriously nerdy music.
Another nerdy music thing I listen to is Symphony of Science. It's not exactly a band. This guy takes lectures by famous scientists, and then autotunes them so they sing. It's weird, but really really good. The same guy has also done a couple of other nerdy tunes, such as a tribute to Game of Thrones.

None of my bands are weird, people just think they're weird.
-Diablo Swing Orchestra
-Blood Ceremony
-Elvenking (Want to know how many looks you get from a very Christian town when Pagan Revolution pops up?)
-Bad Religion (But people only think it's weird here, solely because of the name and American Jesus. Everywhere else it's "whatever.")
-I have a friend who works at the local radio, he says all of my music is weird.

Jugding by their outfits, you might think they belong to most of those regular black metal bands. But instead they make rather satirical power metal about werewolfs and the christian faith.

Actually I thought they were a KISS tribute band at first. XD

As well as Sabaton, because they think it's weird that they sing about war history.

Mmmm, Sabaton's really good. I'm pretty sure a sabaton is a kind of metal boot as well, I think I have ones in Diablo 3 or something
I like some more obscure bands (obscure outside of the kinda grunge community though); I love Them Crooked Vultures, Wellwater Conspiracy and Mother Love Bone and whenever I meention them to anybody they get really confused, I think it's a shame cause they have some pretty good music. I guess you could say Soundgarden, Tool and System Of A Down are pretty weird too, I really like them. Rammstein and Red Hot Chili Peppers are bands you could probably call weird too. I think the only normal bands I listen to are Pearl Jam and Metallica xD

Weird bands, huh? Well, let's take a look at all of the totally sane bands I usually listen to:
Jethro Tull:

Peter Gabriel-era Genesis:

Kate Bush:

Sparks:
Devo:

And, of course, Talking Heads:
And that's just scratching the surface... yep, totally sane.

I'm a big local band snob and out of all the bands here, I think Dallas band Siamese fits the bill best.

Can you tell these guys were theater majors?
Apparently their concerts are pretty wild with like, built sets but the only videos I can find online are in tiny stages. They play haunting glam rock, it's pretty good!

See? Sets! Heard an interview where they said they made them by themselves.

The Residents. It's a very... Experimental and avant grade band. Their identities are not known, and they have released an insane amount of work (I think it's like 60+, they are very productive). They have a lot of costumes they use for albums and live shows, but of all the "Eyeballs" are the most famous ones. Psychedelic stuff and very weird music videos... But interesting :)

The Aquabats!
a band of super heroes.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6CNdlJp9c8 I first saw them on Yo Gabba Gabba and have loved them ever since.
they're gonna be near me next month, but I've got no idea how I'd get to go see them. can't go by myself. dunno. I really want to go because I've been wanting to see them live for nearly 10 years now. missed out last time.

there are more, but they're all Japanese artists. of course, a lot of stuff to come from Japan is viewed as "haha so weird!!!" but it is definitely different and unique. some of the videos aren't the best examples, but you can always search for more.
