Seeing a lot of western and eastern mythology here, but if you ask me, Middle Eastern and Southeast Asian myths need more love!
Like, there's literally a vampire who can detach the upper half of her body and flies around on bat wings sucking blood from innocent pregnant women.
And in some Southeast Asian countries, the nagas traditionally had seven heads!
They were considered protection deities who guarded the Buddha while he meditated.
Also, Hindu deities had animal mounts called vahana, and they could be almost any animal you can think of, even half-man half-bird things:
That's Vishnu on his vahana, Garuda.
Also this fantastic beast:
The lamassu was a man-headed bull with bird's wings, also considered protection deities in Assyrian mythology.
I've been researching these Asian myths for my worldbuilding project, and these are just the highlights! Let's not even get started on Norse animal spirits or the leprechaun's evil counterpart.
