*Raises hand* I no longer have the diagnose officially, my doctor helped me drop all Autism-related notes in my records after the DSM-5 came into effect. My country has some pretty dumb laws about Aspies and drivers licenses that I'd rather not have to deal with, so yey.

I do not have any major likes in the way that some of my Aspie friends do, because my obsessions only tend to last about a year or two and then I'll move o to something else. Here are some of the special interests I have/have had in the past:

- Pokemon
- Harry Potter (lol I haven't even seen the last two movies though)
- Mythology
- Psychology, especially related to religion
- Wilderness survival
- Ancient technology (ties in with the above)
- Animals, tracking, wildlife communication and ethology
- Art
- Dumb *** ways to cook food (yes, I DO own a flamethrower!)

hello everybody! /waves/ i'm elliot! i'm a 15 year old nonbinary kiddo with autism + psychosis, depression, borderline personality disorder, anxiety .. and some other funky junk goin' on in my noggin. i'm superduper sensitive to sounds, especially high-pitched or repetitive ones. all it takes is a cop car to go by and i'm set off. my interests vary a lot because i'm normally only interested in things for short spirts of time (either that or i'm interested in something for eternities tfw). but i'll give a list of my long-term ones anyways because that's what all y'all cool cucumbers seem to be doing.

- pokemon

- tsuritama
- tokyo ghoul
- horror movies
- webcomics in general tbh

i'm a huge weeb

Greetings Everyone! My name is LadySiv. I also have Asperger's, or also known as Autistic spectrum disorder. I am very high functioning, however I still have regular struggles with things. I discovered I had Asperger's when I was 18 years old, I am now 20. I live with my parents and I attend college. I currently work in a nursing home. I struggle with anxiety and I am tactile defensive. I also am believed to be bi-polar. Some days are good, some days are bad, but fortunately there are more good days than bad.

My special interests include:
-tea- obsessed with brewing it for friends, and drinking it everyday, LoL...forever a tea lover!
-Renaissance Era- Time of great beauty, innovation, re-birth, and history.
-Owls--I am fascinated by birds...owls in particular are my favorite.
-Ships- I love sailing! The water allures me with its magnificence.
-Forests/ Nature --Being surrounded by it makes me very happy, relaxed, and at peace.
-Archery- It is a challenge that I enjoy learning. I like to see progress.
-Kickboxing- Good release of frustrations, but also gives me sensory input.
-Music- I play piano and violin. It calms me when I get stressed. Helps me sleep at night.
-TV Shows/Movies/Books- I connect with characters that have autistic traits. Sheldon- Big Bang Theory, Temperance Brenan-Bones, Hal- BBC Being Human, Sherlock-BBC Sherlock. Also I connect with characters that have the same interests/personality/motives as mine.
TV/Movies/Books continued....- These three forms of entertainment help me escape from the stress of reality for a while. Its very calming for me after I have a meltdown or panic/anxiety attack.

So those are my specialized interests. They may seem very common, but it is what it is.

I used to be very shy and quiet. I never talked to anybody in high school. I had only one or two friends, but they were not true friends. But then I joined theater. I got lead parts in school plays and that really helped me open up and come out of my shell. But high school was terrible, but it gets so much better after high school. So fear not if you are a high school student, life does get better! You meet new people whether it be at work or college. The bullies in high school won't be an issue anymore and you make friends that love you for who you are...autistic baggage and all. :) My friends are what really help me become a better and happier person.

I also have some issues with touch which I referred to earlier as tactile defensivness. It feels very foreign to have other people tough me, but it is a very good and pleasant feeling. Simple things like a pat on the back, a hand hold, a face caress, are all very unusual for me, but when I receive them, it gives me a happy warm feeling that I crave. There are a few things that are very unpleasant for me though. I am very sensitive to people tough my wrists, ankles, face, and hipbones...weird I know. But those are the areas I have problems with. But I am slowly getting better with touch by allowing those areas to be touched by those who are close to me that I trust.
I am sensitive to bright fluorescent lights, especially those brightly colored ones found in casinos.
Sometimes I cannot handle crowded rooms of people, all the noise and small space makes me very uncomfortable. Noises, I am very controlling when it comes to tv volume or radio volume. If it gets to loud or chaotic, I get and feel frazzled. So I get very controlling regarding electronic volumes.
I am afraid of small closed spaces. I do not like caves or mines or being underground.
Things that calm me are tea, my cat, my music, tv/movies/books, or being outside beneath the trees or alongside a river, surrounded by nature.
I am very sensitive to clothing too. I do not like clothing that is really constraining and prohibits easy movement. I do not like it if its too tight and makes it hard to move. I am very picky when it comes to clothing. I have such a hard time shopping. I don't like bright shocking fluorescent colors either. I prefer natural earthy colors. greens, maroons, browns, blues.

....So that is about it I think. I apologize for writing to much. But it felt nice to type everything down.

Feel free to message me if you want any advice or have any questions. I am always happy to help others in any way that I can with autistic stuff. :)

hello friends I am here

Dos anyone want to explain to me what this DSM-5 thing is and how they can just decide that Asperger's isn't a thing? I don't understand.

*wavewave!* Hello! I am here from the old Water Flight autistic thread. Special interests include marine snails, Exalted, and fantasy magic systems. When I was younger there were also cats, dragons, folklore and mythology, and Pokemon, which I still like, just not as intensely as I used to. I can't handle being touched, the texture of raw or cooked onions, most motor noises, and crowded places. I think I might also be unusually cold sensitive? But only to air. I find cold water pleasant. Water in general is actually pretty soothing to me. And... if I start stuttering, I will probably swear, because I hate stuttering. For some reason I never stutter when swearing.

So that's a bunch of stuff you did not need to know about me! But now you do anyway.

In the most recent version, it was decided that Aspergers is just a type of autism, and therefore isn't a separate diagnosis anymore. So now you can't get diagnosed with Aspergers in the US anymore, you'll get diagnosed with "mild autism" instead. Other places in the world use a different system, however, so if you live anywhere else, Aspergers is still considered a valid diagnosis separate from autism.
