Aberrations. I don't know all that much about their official lore, but I do know they have two heads and seemingly two individual personalities. So, for breed changing, I'm curious as to everyone's thoughts on what happens there?
Aberration -> Non-aberration, do they lose their other personality completely? Do they merge? Do they both keep separate internal monologues? Do they share the body? Or ignoring gameplay, do they split into two whole new dragons?
Non-aberration -> Aberration, is their new self a reflection of a part of them? Is one completely newborn? Are they completely different to the original? Is there even an original now that there are two of them?
Finally, what happens if an Aberration becomes a non-Aberration and then is changed back to an Aberration?
I thought I might ask here because I bet some people have incorporated this as a part of their aberration lore. I am curious as to what the forums would think.
(This all started because I realised Joxar broke shop name etiquette (twice) and in theory would have made a good Aberration shopkeeper premise, Joxar and Foxar, but then considered what'd happen if Glass and Gloss were breed-changed in turn)

In my headcanon, it can be either of these. It depends on the individual. If one personality is much stronger, it may entirely snuff out the other one. Alternately, they may merge. Either way, there's just one internal monologue from then on (at least that's how I've always imagined it...although if it varies per individual, what if they're both alters in the same body thenceforth?)

This is how I see it. Some aspect of themselves is given independent voice.

This one's fun because I think it can turn out different ways! If the aberration is originally A&B, and then B snuffs out A, and you turn them back into an aberration, you aren't just going to get A back. It'll be B and aspect-of-B.
If the aberration is A&B and becomes a blended merger of the two, and you turn them back into an aberration, they aren't necessarily going to split the same way as before. It could be like a different aspect of them which branches off.
Lots of possibilities, but I think it's unlikely to turn out entirely like it was before! soup be weird

ehehehehe!!!!!! i do have this written into the lore for one (two??) of my dragons and i'm very excited to get to show them off!!
you can read
arsenic's lore on their page but they're a dusthide who breedchanged into an aberration and basically for them i think it was kind of like. everyone's personality probably has some divisions in it, right? like the little angel and devil on your shoulder, left brain right brain. becoming an abby just made those two sides distinct entities able to directly argue with each other. in arsenic's case it's largely that arson is their impulsive, emotional, and outgoing side, and nick is their insecurities and impulse control. as a dusthide, they were an outgoing, emotional, and insecure dragon with some dumb impulses and some good impulse control-- all the parts were there, the breed change just clarified the distinction!

I think it varies from dragon(s) to dragon(s), but I have "one" who was canonically two dragons fused together!

(This was because one of them wasn't Plague, and this from a sublair set in the post-apocalypse where Plague's territory took over the entire world, so it was necessary to keep her alive. She resents this and wants to be as independent as possible!)

If you want post-apocolyptic Plague-flight lore, check out the Everwastes tab!
If you want a just-for-fun pink sparkly Arcane lair, check out the rest of my page!
Either way, I hope you have fun ^^
I haven't written any lore for him yet, but I do imagine that Xenophon is one of those rare cases where I'll incorporate his breed change into the lore somehow. I imagine he has completely forgotten who he used to be after his transformation into an Aberration, much to his distress/confusion.

Sasha and Abraham are also siblings who were both turned into Aberrations in an unstable experiment... which was also very disorienting for the two of them, to say the least.

Regarding forum games, please only select dragons who have familiars - those are the permanent residents of my lair. Feel free to look through the hibernal den, too
Isn't this basically the plot of Severance? Lol.
I think they'd lose one personality, so most aberrations would REALLY hate the idea of breed changes.

My headcanon for abberations is that each head represents two halves of one mind; ergo an abberation becoming a new dragon would just fuse into one mind and another dragon becoming an abberation would split their consciousness.

i have an undertide that used to be an aberration, and my headcanon is that they are now a system. :) so both personalities are still there, they just have a different way of interacting with their body, eachother, and the outside world now.
