Also from Tumblr! although, it was a post linking to a collection of virtual pet sites - Flight Rising was the one that stood out the most (never heard of breeding mechanics in a pet game before!), and that's how i came here.

Cant remember. word of mouth from other online games like chickensmoothie mentioned above. but... I had one of Undel's how to draw dragons books from prior to the game, and im pretty sure i once coloured in an earthshaker drawing i printed off in like 2012, wayyyy before i joined the site lol

It's been a long time, but I heard about it pre-opening on Livejournal. I've still got that player's FR handle in my account as my "referred by", though I've got no clue who they are as we didn't keep in touch after that! I joined shortly after the site was opened up in July 2013, although I don't remember the mechanics of getting an account (invite code??) back then...
