I'm an old, ooold user that only remembers cry/face/gem and iri/shim/glim or circuit and only game back very very recently.
I'll be honest I'm really happy those have fallen out of fashion by now it seems. I got pretty tired of seeing them in every breeding project.

I joined the site when this combo was all the rage and I was absolutely obsessed with it; so many of my dragons had that exact combo. Then StarCon came out...

Ohh yeah!
Back in 2017 I'm pretty sure sanguine or abyss or phthalo skink/spinner was a big thing too.

This went for hundreds of thousands of treasure back in the summer of 2-o-13 (darn. just doesn't have the same ring as summer of '69)
i remember when cherub came out - it was meant to be the companion gene to seraph but everyone was making cherub/peregrine/glimmer dragons @_@
I started playing around the time Imperials still went for 200k+ Treasure at lowest and triples were the trendiest (and second most expensive) thing around. Getting Iri/Shim for my progenitor was my ultimate goal.
When I did finally get the genes for her, she looked...interesting.
(Man, Faes with Iri/Shim were quite a look. lmao)

She definitely looks waaaay better now as a Spiral (and with pretty light pink eyes to match!)

New genes are always exciting and bring all these vibrant new colors out, but I also still enjoy seeing the older genes like Gembond around. I still have a really huge soft spot for those vibrant Crystal/Facet/Circuit, and I like Cherub all the same!
At some point, I realized I liked XYYs and XYZs more than XXXs, though. Color matching dress-ups started feeling really plain on XXXs. There was this whole thread for XXY Pet/Butt/Glim combos!

But that's okay :3
This post made me realize I'd been on FR for several months before petals even released
I still think ivory cher/but/glim is where it's at, though:
