Fortunately, the dragons tromping through it were only searching for one of the unfathomable secrets: the fabled Necropolis, a city of the Dead that was rumored to lay somewhere between the Scarred Wasteland and the Windswept Plateau. The explorers may have been an unlikely crew, composed of dragons from both Wind and Plague, but they were united by a passion for adventure and a fearlessness that kept all of them moving, even as the day grew hot and flies began to buzz in their ears. As they pressed onward, the trees seemed to crowd closer to the party. Long vines hung in thick ropes from the branches that craned across the path, far overhead, wide leaves providing dappled shade that brought only minimal relief to the heavy heat of the jungle around them; but as they pressed onward, the leaves clustered closer together until it was the sunlight that was dappled, instead of the shadows. The cajoling chatter among the dragons in the commingled party dipped in volume and then died completely, a hush falling over both the party and the forest they were trudging through. This deep into their journey, there were no longer calling birds or the sound of distant animals rustling in the underbrush - only a dim, still silence that seemed almost reverent in the dimly-lit jungle, so far from civilization. The only thing that interrupted the silence was a low groaning sound, almost unnoticeable at first, but building with the wind to a sudden but brief howl that whips past the explorers, drawing their attention to a path that didn't seem to have been there before...
