Personally, I feel that if wings were tacked on to these, they could almost be a separate species from the imperials today. I do prefer these, but I do not mean to say there is anything wrong with the current imperials. I am also a huge Mirror fan though so that could imply that my impressions and preferences are somewhat unusual.

I like wingless dragons but they are not a good choice for Flight Rising since that's where the secondary genes are displayed.

OMG you guys should totally add wings to these guys and add them as a new breed!!! :D they're gorgeous...you could call them the "Lung" breed, as that's what Neon called the, in her Dragonart Evolution book.
