Same opinion as everyone else: tt has the same reason why they breedchange an Imperial into a Tundra: taste. What one likes is a no-go for others and the good thing on genes is that you actually CAN change them into something you like without investing to much into them (in compare to scatterscrolls).

On the topic at hand - I don't usually buy based on purely color combo, I only buy what I think already looks good, with the exception of fandragons. Those, well, I have a couple ideas that will end up with basic primaries once I actually find the dragon (Maize/Banana/blue-range for one. Hard to find). I do have a couple dragons that I bought with one or more basic genes and I've never changed them. And I guess if I were to get a dragon for free that I absolutely basic I'd probably make it basic. It's cheap enough that I could do that.

Violet Poison/Crimson Toxin/Silver Basic -only thing that might work is glimmer but I don't want to loose the colouring/pattern on the horns/face

I took Iri off of an OC dragon I bought, because my character does not have a shiny green butt.

The only time I've ever used one is because I didn't have enough money for the new gene I wanted, but the old one looked awful. (Removed eyespots while saving up for shimmer)
