Awkward random ping, but saw your reply above and yes! Old Kingdom Queen Sabriel definitely! I've found many more people on FR that get the reference right than anywhere else and it always makes me smile so thanks for that!
Also apparently the Sabriel Supernatural reference, is the portmanteau for Sam and Gabriel if I understood that right when it was told to me, though who know's what's happened in the later seasons of Supernatural there could be queens in there somewhere also.

Thank you, and yes definitely a Merlin Fan here! I loved the show and all the actors in it. I do sometimes wish for a modern spinoff, I always enjoy watching the Merlin actors on their different projects, Humans being my new favorite.

I actually haven't watched that one, but I've seen previews and it sounds quite interesting. I've been so caught up in the 10 or so shows I already watch that I havent been able to watch anything new. And since you and Stanza understood the reference that I failed to, perhaps I'll have to go and check out the Old Kingdom series.

A portmanteau? Interesting. I'd put Sabriel's name into Wikipedia to double-check I'd remembered the series name correctly and at the top of the page it said "For the Khazar ruler who converted to Judaism, see Bulan (Khazar)." So I'd been half-wondering if both had gotten the name from somewhere else.
No problem! ^^ I've wondered if the Old Kingdom series and the Inheritence cycle were notable players in influencing my early writing inclinations/style. (The
most likely candidate to check regarding the former might sort of be the opposite way round to how Abhorsen business generally works.) I admit at one point I thought that Smaug's "I am fire, I am death" speech was practically a meme around here and you get an astonishing number of people who are interested in Warrior Cats, so I think we do get a good deal of book-fans around here. :)

Ohhhh. One of the people I've spoken to cautiously remarked that I actually had encountered him and another person clarified
that it was on a Tuesday.
...You can tell someone is not a shipper when they initially assume you mean a navy vessel in-universe that the creators were deliberately teasing the shippers with. XD
I like it when I find enjoyable books to read, though at the current time I think video games and anime take up more of my time. My favourite book is definitely Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell though. ^^ It has a TV adaptation, and I find both likeable. I remember finding
reading about the author's impression of their set visit a promising sign, even if for my part I ended up reading the book after watching the show.
Part of the appeal for me personally is how the book uses footnotes to reference other in-universe publications. :D

Never heard of it, but the overview sounds interesting. I am a big fan of the more fantastical elements to books, and I saw you mentioned the Inheritance Cycle when talking to QueenSabriel, which is a series that I very much enjoyed.

Nice! I don't usually talk to people in the forums, but someone pinged me here, haha. Usually, if I post in the forums, it's because I'm selling or trading dragons. What do you usually do on here?

1. I buy OC art. 2. I don't exalt dragons from non-exalt threads.
3. I try to trade nice-looking dergs in swap threads.
4. If you're a newbie and need help navigating the site, feel free to ask. :)

I can tell for sure that 2 of my intense obsessions are high fantasy and the remaining one low fantasy. Around 9 out of my 15 moderate interests have notable fantasy aspects (those discounted include a legal thriller and a thriller-slice-of-life hybrid which both have elements and a case of the lines between sci-fi and fantasy not being massively distinct).
During late beta I was one of a few people who had been planning an Inheritence roleplay set after the events of the books. After the first post only two of us made an effort to post so it didn't get far.
Here's the old thing in case you're curious, back before the coding of apostrophes was tinkered with.
I find myself wondering how many people remember the
boss-room-door from the final book. The one depicting all the sentient races of Alagaësia that was destroyed during the final showdown.
From seeing your remarks regarding Merlin to QueenSabriel, do you have a particular favourite episode? For some reason I've found Poisoned Chalice from the first series quite notable, but then again my DVD collection is unfortunately incomplete.
