A synthesized voice from an intercom directs you to a room half carved into the ice, unshielded from the elements as gentle snow drifts down. Upon the gateway to the hidden facility reads “Test Chamber of Ends” and the phrase “[i]Aeternum in Aeternite[/i]” etched artistically up and down its pristine columns. You are glad to see the usual Ice Flight aesthetic isn’t totally lost out here in the middle of nowhere.

An imperial with a poor man’s plague doctor mask sits perched on one of the unfinished sections of wall and waves at you awkwardly. He clears his throat and gives you a big smile before addressing you quite cheerfully.
“[b][color=#5F9EA0]Welcome! Welcome to the Test Chamber of Ends! I’m Physics, researcher of the Cloudscrape Project. The voice you heard earlier is-[/color][/b]”
“[b][color=#A2B5CD]And I am-am SHOVOS[/color][/b],” the synthesized voice buzzes in electronic static that would seem out of place outside lands of the lightning skies. But the ominous echoes and hints of madness in stuttered speech seem almost fitting within the lands desperately clinging to fragile perfection. “[b][color=#A2B5CD]Magistrate of the Kustos Glakios, War-war-warden and L-lead Engineer of the Test Chamber of Ends, and thus Head of this ppproject[/color][/b].
“[b][color=#A2B5CD]We are simulating the untraversed conditions of the Cloudscrape based on data gathered from our experiments and preservation efforts. Do not be surprised when encountering ethereal disruptions during these series of tests. We have verified traces of this energy existing at the highest points of the mountains, and have deduced that this is what makes traversing it deadly.[/color][/b]”
“[b][color=#5F9EA0]Our hypothesis is that this energy is having a profound effect on the mental and physical strength of those who make the ascent! It’s incredible! I don’t think I’ve seen anything like this outside of the Arcane![/color][/b]” The cheerfulness of the imperial took on a strange intensity as he went on to speak of the “ethereal disruptions” with almost fanatical fascination. “[b][color=#5F9EA0]This test chamber is designed to test average responses to situations caused by the disturbances. I hope it will be as fun for you as it will be for me to study! I’m almost certain it will![/color][/b]”

Please enter the first test chamber.[/color][/b]” At SHOVOS’ words, Physics gives a nod and eagerly summons for the door to open in a flurry of wind and snow. You proceed to enter the facility as the gateway closes behind you with a heavy, echoing thud.

Grayish blue lights line the walls near the floor, lighting up as you proceed down the descending corridor that opens up as you go onward, fanning along its sides to the first test chamber. It becomes quickly apparent that the unappealing entrance was intentionally underplaying what it hid beneath. You swear you can see scientific equipment and mechanisms along the walls of a room at the end of the hall, but are you walk further, an increasing haze masks what is actually there. Soon you feel wind and snow and the chill of the cold. You notice now that there is high snow surrounding your legs, seizing hold of your feet with the wind picking up to whip at your face. It’s beginning to feel like the elements have a will of their own, wanting you to submit.
“[b][color=#6E7B8B]I am curious…[/color][/b]” You hear her voice inside your head, more antagonistic that before. The few words seemed to slow as your heart skips a beat. “[b][color=#A2B5CD]-([color=#7D7F94]curious[/color]) how you will react under heightened awareness of our intentions, Instrument, for we do not intend to let you leave. Not any of you. For the Ice is Eternal.[/color][/b]” The words waver in pitch and tone and speed. You are certain this SHOVOS is not all there. Not quite right. “[b][color=#A2B5CD]And for decadent eons ([color=#7D7F94]eons…[/color]), I shall order and command the denizens of Ice... A queen for [color=#6E7B8B]eternity[/color], and you too shall find immortality as my pawn. If you do well.
“Let’s see how you work under fear, mortal. I am not known for mercy, but you are welcome to supplicate ([color=#7D7F94]supplicate[/color]) yourself before me to try to find my favor. Do well in these tests if you hope to maintain some dignity. You are not useful to me as a cadaver. Not yet.

I have concocted a serum pack that will [b]provide the necessary mood stimulants to make it past the antagonistic energies faced at the peaks[/b], and thus increase the possibility of both ascent and return. I find myself longing to further test my potion, but unfortunately testing the extent of an average mountaineer’s idiocy currently holds precedence. Here is your simple problem to solve:
[br][center][b]Calculate the burden of each individual pack necessary to scale the Cloudscrape. Determine the weight of the ration pack, mountaineering pack, and serum pack.[/b][/center]

And then the words stop. In the midst of wind and snow, you glance at the mentioned packs piled in chests nearby. There appears to be a scale that you can use as well with a peculiar label saying “scale only operational for items over 46 kilograms”, and so you sigh as you begin to place objects on the scale to weigh in groups.
You complete your labor and made a chart of each combination you could think of.[center]
