Without the ability to look at faces anymore, dragons focused instead on the spread of a wingspan, the muscles of legs, the delicacy of hands... Irist thought it quite unseemly! There was certainly no chance of her wearing a mask and giving other dragons a chance to gawk at her fair form. In fact, just to further highlight her disdain for such looks, she draped herself in a regal cloak, feathered at the throat with feathers from her own familiar. A little jewelry to complete the look, a nice bright bow to highlight how wonderfully vibrant her hair was, and Irist was satisfied she was ready to attend. Let eager young things go around masked and bedecked in the bare minimum. Irist was above such things as a matron of refined tastes. Her presence at the Masquerade would surely lend a note of class to what was no doubt a low-class affair! Her familiar flew alongside her, cawing with laughter at a few of Irist's more pointed remarks about the other attendants and their costumes.

congrats to @glowdeer and @arkonsel! and thank you very much for honoring yami with a second place! :D i'm thrilled, and very glad to hear my idea took your fancy- it was a lot of fun coming up with it!

i was actually just hovering around this thread thinking about today's lovely theme when your ping caught my attention. i wasn't able to find it anywhere in the info, so i guess i'll ask here: does winning in one day's theme mean i can't compete in others? this is honestly a ton of fun.

Domatia is no plant, but she plays host to various insects anyway. She doesn't move around much, preferring to bask in the sun by the waters of the Gladeveins, and this has allowed nature to take root, both literally and figuratively. Vines have wrapped themselves around her chest and wings, with a different variety branching up from the top of her head like horns. Insects take advantage of her stillness and make their homes among her feathers; she gladly plays host, and snaps up any predatory bugs that come close enough. The numerous birds that visit her on a daily basis use her as a perch, and consume their share of any and all insects they can catch.

Username: aerisonus Dragon's Name: Noel Entrant: [url=http://flightrising.com/main.php?dragon=3567545] [img]http://flightrising.com/rendern/350/35676/3567545_350.png[/img] [/url] [img]http://flightrising.com/images/cms/familiar/art/598.png[/img] ever since he could remember, noel had always been very proud of his vibrant pink plumage. he'd always thought that against his blue coat, his wings looked like fresh spring blossoms against a clear blue sky. cherry blossoms in particular were his favorite, and he often found himself leisurely walking the woodland path, which is where he'd first seen it. a sakura owl, with eyes wizened and discerning, swooping along overhead. as one of the creature's feathers fluttered down in front of him, noel scooped it up and held it against his own wings, smiling in affection. that had been the start of a long and determined endeavour: noel would not give up until he had befriended the avian whose plumage epitomized what he loved about his place in the world. the increased time spent in the woodland path tracking down the sakura owl found noel collecting the many sakura blossoms that spring coaxed into bloom as well. he enjoyed twining them into different adornments and sitting underneath the trees' shade. it was during one such afternoon that he was suddenly showered with a flowerfall of the blossoms, and the presence of the long sought sakura owl fell over him. the owl challenged him, and when noel won, the bird conceded to stick around. and now, on the evening of the greenskeeper gathering masquerade, noel heaped sakura blossoms around his neck and tied them around his wrist in tribute to his avian friend and the connection they shared. with a teasing smile, he waved his new tropical birdskull headdress in front of his new friend. "look at what i got, just for the occasion! we were always a matching pair, but tonight we'll really look it!" the owl seemed to raise a patronizing eyebrow, but noel merely grinned deviously. "well, are you coming along, or not? this night is for the birds, after all." with a muttering hoot, the owl stiffly spread its wings to perch on noel's prehensile tail, showering the pair of them with another flowerfall of sakura blossoms. the two set out to the ball, feathers shining the same shade and white beaks prodding forth, both the picture of a flourish of cherry blossoms. but anyone who looked upon them had to wonder whether noel was really supporting his friend's time in the spotlight, or whether the old owl himself was an accessory to noel's costume.

He does not really want to be here, but the skydancer, Zaech would not give him half a choice in the matter. Skarra hates nonsense and showing off, and would much rather be spending his time knocking heads in the Coliseum, but he did not want to disappoint his friend. Then of course, there is always the chance to show up the snooty pearlcatchers in the lair by proving he can be just as fashionable as any of them. His outfit is as close to a no-nonsense uniform as Skarra could come up with. The pigeon-plumaged skydancer takes everything in live dreadfully seriously, and that includes what he chooses to wear. The only colour he allows in his wardrobe is meant as to subtly match the colour of Zaech's navy underbelly, but it is kept fairly sombre to prevent him from accidentally standing out. Even his familiar was picked for its colour -or lack of it- and together they stand, dutifully waiting until they can go pummel some more leaves out of their enemies.

The games they had played into the wee hours of the morning had been fun, but tiring, and as Konpecki curled up for sleep, the Owl had gone for the hunt, but promised to return and watch over her dreams as always. But it was the chirping from Sylphia, the white dove that Konpecki had tamed, that woke Konpecki to the joys of the new day. As the imperial dragon never slept more than a few hours each night, it was a beautiful arrangement - friends and song both day and night! Sylphia chirped beautifully again and hopped onto a bundle at the entrance to her private lair. A package! Konpeki stretched over and snatched it as Sylphia hopped up on top of her head. The package was the promised surprise from Siltaria, leader of their clan! Opening the wrappings carefully Konpecki held up the beautiful feather apparel made from Verdante's feathers, a beautful iridescent green with hints of shadowed blue. Sylphia chirped a question, and Konpecki reconsidered her plans for the day. "Yes! Yes, I shall enter the Masquerade tonight!"

It's because I have such gorgeous blue feathers, not to mention my fabulous flying; I can turn on a dime just like a little bird, you should see me in action! Of course, some of my clanmates say I got my name because I'm always making noise all the time, you know, like a jay? But that's ridiculous: it's obviously because of my stunning blue feathers. Oh, and I almost forgot to mention my favourite little bird friend! He collects these trinkets for me to wear. Cute little guy, huh?" (Ah well, I know he's not dressed up to the nines like some of these competitors, but what can I say, I love masquerades so I had to enter)
