Born from many generations of gaoler clans living in the region, adapting to swimming to gather sunken treasures, as well as meat and plants from in the water. Slowly changing to match their surroundings, affected by the arcane radiation around them over time, the Gaoler clans started to gain the colors and patterns of water. As well as growing crystal shards upon their backs to blend into the crystal filled waters that they hunt in. These Gaolers are exceptional swimmers and divers, using their flightless wings to maneuver in even the most strongest of currents. Some Reefbacks have even been seen starting to adapt to a more aquatic diet, experimenting with eating seafood besides aquatic mammals. Are we witnessing a whole new branch of evolution brought to play by the warping surge of magical energies that changed them? Most Reefbacks come from the same descendent clans, although some are more quickly adapting water flight Gaolers that now reside in the region. It is not surprising to hear a Reefback say that they didn’t always appear this way. Some Crystal Reefbacks are known collectors of shiny gems, especially pink chalcedony.
