Despair is the Captain of the Red Tide. She's a very dangerous and ruthless individual, especially when the safety of her crew is at stake, but deep down she's soft and kindhearted, though she's careful not to let it show. While her demeanor and reputation paint her as uncaring and merciless, Despair and her crew would never attack anyone unprovoked, and only target those who intentionally or selfishly cause harm without remorse.

Jag is a self-assured and suave individual who loves cats. He has a bit of a temper at times, but is quick to apologize and correct any actions made in frustration. Although he's not the captain or second-in-command, he often helps run the ship with just as much say as they do—if only because he knows Despair and the rest of the crew so well, he can accurately anticipate what needs to get done, and in what order. Despite that, he doesn't care for being in charge, he just likes helping out in all honesty.

Stormsurge is the resident mechanic and repairman. While Despair was the one to acquire their ship in the first place, almost every aspect of it has been changed or replaced by Stormsurge, and he considers it his baby. He used to be a well-respected inventor in the Turrets of Goldensparc, but became dissatisfied with the ideals of his associates and decided to figuratively jump ship, eventually landing on a literal ship, enticed by the promise of adventure and doing whatever is deemed "right," even if the rules say otherwise. He quickly proved to be an invaluable part of the crew, even managing to rig the ship with retractable wings, balloons, and fans, allowing it to cruise the seas and skies equally with ease.
