IIRC the site that showed the creature she's based on only recently translated and posted it in English (and there's less than 1.2k results on google for it either.) Meet the Torakoishi!

The story is one of my favourites, and I love that with every iteration of the story, more layers of metaphor and allegory get twisted and turned to fit modern sensibilities (of the time).
