The Legend of the Behemoth Tree
Legend says that this Tree is what the Gaolers born within this subspecies were truly created from
; which would explain their intrinsic disconnect from their brethren and
the Icewarden.
Instead of being kept within the confines of
The Fortress of Ends by their cruel father, these beings lived within the forest just outside of it.
These Gaolers seem to be born with an almost genetic longing to return to the Behemoth tree from the moment they can walk. Every cub (no matter how long into the future) will grow up dreaming of and hearing stories about the forest and above all
; the giant and almost omniscient tree that protected their ancestors from harm.
The Tree has not been found for centuries, however, and its offspring seem to be unable to return.
“Could it be just a myth?”
This is a question asked to this species more often than not, but only by dragons who are no part of the bloodline. Everyone who
is simply just... seems to know that it
is real. They just
know that it is
! What else would they have to believe in?
In a more critical sense, you
could say that there is no tangible proof that the Behemoth Tree
does or even ever
did exist, but if it
doesn’t; it would make these Goalers’ drive to return to it even more inexplicable.
“Wait a moment...!”
Will beings from the Nature Flight probably
think (but not dare to say) as they know
exactly where a mythical tree called
'The Behemoth' resides.
I am still working on writing down the specifics of the deep lore surrounding this; but needless to say that the Gladekeeper has a lot more to do with the creation of this sub - species than is made out to be.

Sometimes, either through age or due to a birth defect; the bark of a Gaoler made from the Behemoth Tree can start to crystallize. While this gives an effect that is often regarded as pretty; it is a condition that inhibits movement and is overall considered a sickness by members of the species.
Crystallization can happen to Gaolers of any variant and is characterized by their coloration falling within the species' requirements, but having a gene replaced by either one or multiple of these:

MORE INFORMATION + CREDITS
The creation of this sub - species has been on my mind a lot since I feel like Gaolers are very underappreciated and deserve more love. I have been passionately working on seeing which combinations work the most with my vision and whittling down ideas to something susceptible for the public, and I hope that you guys like it!
For more information (there are some genes that I am allowing certain colors for that are not within the general scale, and I have also been working on some more mutations) feel free to take a peek at my Google.doc! I got to warn that it is a big WIP and things are always susceptible to change before I set them in stone and put them on here, though.
