These are awesome! I saw that you were still brainstorming some of the elements in there and I have two suggestions.
-water
What if these oilbelisks were highly resistant to washing away in water? This would be possible because they already have and use small water pockets within their body (possibly giving them the ability to float as a puddle on water for a short time? )
It could also be that they are even more susceptible to the sun because of it too though, at first they won't have any hardening effects, but after a short time their natural water pockets will evaporate, leaving them severely weakened, more than most oilbelisks.
This might also make places like bogs and jungles an ideal place to live due to the increased moisture and shade that they provide
- Frozen
The only thing I had for these ones was that maybe they can survive longer in the sun light due to being able to shield their exposed oil in a casing of frost/ ice that takes the brunt of the sun's warming effects. They would emit a frozen fog while in the sun, much like a weaker version of liquid nitrogen fog
Also, if someone could add me to the ping lists, I would appreciate it. I can't edit docs on my phone. I'd like to be on all of them, thanks in advance if someone does!
