Basic meanwhile can look good with bland color's to make a dragon look smooth. And a lot of the time I have basic tet dragon's since it's primary and secondary color's look fine enough!
I do admit it can be boring compared to like, constellation or iridescent but it's good for a smooth and well...basic look imo.

I´m not a big fan of smirch aswell but it can work if it´s used with similar colours.
