As the title implies this thread is for showing off those beautiful historically or mythically inspired dragons!
I recently noticed that I accidentally created a Madame De Pompadour dragon with Ulani:

I also have a few dragons who are named after gods from different old religions, or even figures from current religions. And I know Gods are popular themes on here for dragon names at least.
They don't need to suit their namesake perfectly, nor do they need to be named after the historical person or myth, sometimes they just give off that vibe. ;)
Why don't you show off your historically or mythologically themed dragon(s) here?
And if you feel like it, a short story about how you came to this name.

I'm working on a Les Miserables breeding project, and a lot of mis characters have classical references made about them, so that's where these names come from :)
So here's Pylades

This is Mordiford, who was named after the Dragon of Mordiford. The legend is in his bio for anyone who is curious

Oohhh, Les Mis. What an interesting topic, may I ask why?
Afraid I'm not too familiar with the story, but the dragons look nice. :3

He's quite a beauty too.

Nice! He does look like a classic dragon in regards colours, yeah. But I guess that's how things become cliché though, because they look nice.

Zholtaniusar I saw the film last April and then sort of head over heels with the whole story. I'm slowly but surely making my way through the book and going to see it on the West End in September :) These three, and Pylades' mate Aire, are breeding two of the student revolutionaries, Grantaire (Pylades and Aire) and Enjolras (Orestes and Antinous) :3

I don't know when it started, but I love taking inspiration from ancient myths and history. Their names sounds beautiful, and I always try giving them a personality and description which somehow fits the character they're named after. =)

In an effort to avoid having anything like the story of Medea happen, she will not ever have a mate named Jason. I do not think I will ever have a Jason in my lair. Instead, her mate is Atlas (to keep with the Greek theme but avert disaster).
