TOPIC | [art dump] drawing all my dragons!
1 2 3
i wanted to attempt a draw365 challenge this year, but it quickly became clear that i'd be unable to complete my goal for a number of reasons. instead, i've pivoted to trying to draw as much as i can! i've taken to sketching dragons as warmups and occasionally as more thought-out pieces. here i want to share the fruits of my labor - i think it'll be fun to talk about my art out of character, too! there's no time limit placed on it, but my eventual goal is to obtain art of every perma in my lair!

without further ado...here's some dragon art! comments, critiques, etc are welcome!

i had a dream i went back to first grade with all my adult knowledge and preferences...i don't remember much of the actual storyline of the dream, except for that my teacher mrs. hart allowed me to keep my lunchbox in the teacher's lounge fridge and use their microwave xD i created Elixir in the following days, and his story somewhat nods to that plot... in the past, i didn't particularly care for Pearlcatchers, but i seem to have found myself drawing them quite a lot! they're much cuter drawn, i think that's why. i've also become quite experienced in drawing poison/toxin just by chance, it seems a fair number of dragons i love to draw/have been commissioned to draw carry either or both of those genes! it's always fun to render.

i had originally sketched this piece...over a year ago, when i first bought & permababied Nariene, and the description i'd wrote for her sparked an illustration idea in my mind. i remember thinking it would be fun to have an old dragon with eternal youth, and most of my elder collection are heavily bred - i don't care about long or messy offspring lists whatsoever, but i refuse to permababy dragons who have had nests of their own. i was about 50% done with this pic when i saw some enchanting papercraft style pieces all in the span of a day, including this thread, and wanted to try my hand at the style! it was a fun exercise, with a result i'm proud of ^__^

another base color-in that i finished just yesterday (available here), during which i made the decision to make this thread! there are quite a few other sketches i have ready to be turned into bases or illustrations of my dragons...i'm looking forward to visiting this thread in the future, each time growing my library of art ^__^ as for this pic, it was my first time drawing star/con...i took some liberties, but i'm happy with how it turned out! i have to remind myself that my goal here is to get art of all my specialest dragons - not for every piece i create has to be a masterpiece, it just has to make me happy...and that's a far easier goal to achieve than perfection!
