Without the living, they become empty husks, floating around in the underworld without drive or purpose, cursed to exist without reason. A geist-dragon born into the living world took on the visage of a dragon, but was not a true dragon. Every geist-dragon had an archetype, but in a wholly difference sense to their Bound counterparts. A geist was the embodiment of a vice, an urge, a desire, a treason. They were Lust, Judgement, Wrath, Seclusion. A concept, an idea, brought to form with ungodly magic and a little bit of something impossible. As such, they are effectively immortal... but they are not exactly alive. A geist-dragon is not born. It is engineered into being by the God-Machine, and while it may form within an egg in the overworld where dragons call home, it was never really meant to exist. The lineage that came from the union between Ariia and Ouroboros broke every Law, and if their children were found out by the Kerebos, there would be a reckoning to come. But still, the children would be drawn into the underworld because it was their home; where they would tempt fate by sneaking around, suspicious of that which would wholly destroy them... or bow before them. Ad Vitam Aeternam

Eternal Life. It was the aspiration of all geists, what they were engineered to achieve, but it could not be accomplished alone. A geist, alone, would wither and cease to function without a living host to graft to. It was the living who drove the essence of a geist, who gave them their power. It was the living who gave the geists the ability to achieve their most deviant goals and desires, the living that gave them the means to their ends. Without the living, they become empty husks, floating around in the underworld without drive or purpose, cursed to exist without reason.

A geist-dragon born into the living world took on the visage of a dragon, but was not a true dragon. It held its form while in the land of the living, but as soon as a geist-dragon would pass through an Avernian Gate, that form would strip away, leaving the true appearance: the true otherworldly being to be laid bare and seen for what it was; something inhumane and not meant to be among the living. And vicious and horrific as it could be, it might also be beautiful or haunting or seemly or cunning.

There was no limit to what a geist's true form could look like, and what it would feel like was even worse.

Always something wholly wrong about it, never fitting right in dragon society. A geist-dragon could take on one of two forms: its tail might glow, leaving a passage, a route of sorts for others to follow it out of the Depths, to hunt and stalk and prey on the living. The glow would be visible to all, always leaving its viewer with a sense of queasiness or vertigo, as if it was something not meant to be there, all the same. Alternatively, it could manifest as an archaic language scrawled on the side of the geist-dragon, as if a tear in reality itself that seared its design into the body of its host, an eternal and obvious marker that this thing was not meant to be in this world. No scholar could know what the runes spelt, the language long lost to the dead denizens of the Autochthonous Depths alone.

The geist-dragon was, at it's truth, a sort of terrible thing that would be grafted to the Soul of the Bound, the Sin incarnate. The ichor that ran through the veins of a geist-dragon was not blood but blood-adjacent, and could nourish the undead if they were bold enough or terrible enough to gain the taste.

A geist-dragon is tempted to cross the Rivers, to venture deeper and deeper into the deadlands, the underworld, and go up against the masters of the realms, themselves.
