THE BEGINNING[/b][/center] [size=3]Many eons ago a prophesy was born from the first Starcaller: [i]"A grand void shall come upon the land, swallowing all life and riches. Lands will be desecrated, flora and fauna wilting against the dark void. Castles will crumble from within, its influence slithering through the cracks. Men, women, children, elderly--all forms of life will fall to it's great power."[/i] The devastation of the word brought kingdoms into a panic. The greedy and the generous all came together as one, begging on their knees for a way to save their kingdoms. At first the Starcaller was silent, the heavy weight of her pause bearing down on the backs of these nobles. [i]"There is but one way to save all the land. From the skies a star will fall with the gods' blessing. They shall guide the chosen one to bring life and prosperity back. Twinkling softly as the rays of the sun began to dim. They come shimmering from the darkness, like the soft tinkling of laughter. Below them, the sky is mirrored on the clear water, a single ripple sending waves across the image. A single dainty finger traces the water patterns, a sad frown upon her pink lips. She sighs softly as the stars dance around, in the water’s rippling surface. The stars will guide them. They always have, but she feared. What they say now, the words—it was unthinkable! “Seraphina,” a hand so gentle and soft laid upon her shoulder. She turned to find her lover a sad yet soft smile on his lips. “The stars guide us, their words are wiser than our own. Perhaps, there is reason.” “I know,” she said, “but Ichitarou it has been years. Many long years, and now they expect us to—no. I cannot.” Her eyes fell down upon her hands, brows knitting together. They clenched and unclenched, restless like a child without a toy, hoping to grab onto anything. “We have lived in isolation for a reason. The world is ending.” Seraphina said, “I have spoken to and been advised by the stars for so long, and I have come to already make peace with the decision. Yet their words now change.” A gentle kiss was placed upon her brows, large hands encircling her back and pulling her flush against his chest. She sighed into him, arms reaching around to clutch onto his back. There was a comfort there, a warmth that spread throughout her like a gentle fire crackling at the hearth. She breathed in deeply, taking in the scent of spices and warm gentle fire. “I know it is difficult my songbird,” Ichitarou spoke, “but there may be hope yet. Prophesies have been overturned many times as the stars seem fickle more lately. They have yet to fail us.” He placed another kiss atop her head, rubbing gentle circles on her back. “But for us to open the gates?” She said, “it’s ridiculous. Our people have suffered at their hands long enough. We closed ourselves off to protect our lives, and yet the stars say we must open them again?” Her hands clenched tighter behind his back, before she gently pushed him away turning her back to him. "I will not stand for it Ichitarou," Seraphina declared, ripping the cloth from her eyes and throwing it to the ground. "The winds have yet to change, it brings only the scent of blood and rot. Outside the people are desperate, they will rip ours to shreds, or force them under slavery. I refuse to subject our people to such torture." Ichitarou sighed, a gentle smile on his lips before slowly walking over to Seraphina. He dipped low to pick up the discarded cloth, smiling as he watched it shimmer under the moon's light. Slowly, carefully, he wrapped his arms around her waist, hands presented in front of her with the cloth gently resting on his palms. "I know it's a difficult decision, but the stars have yet to fail us." Gently, he turned her around smiling as he let his thumb caress the pout on her lips. "We will not send our people blind like those before us have. They are trained. They can defend themselves, but we must give them a chance. Right now, we are in pandora's box, our people are the hope that this world needs." Seraphina looked at him, sighing as she slumped into his arms again. "I do not know if I can handle losing another one," she confessed. "We have lost too many." Ichitarou sighed, his head tilting up into the starry sky. The stars twinkled down on them, but he did not understand. He was not born with such a gift, nor did he train the ability; however, he knew that the stars would not let them down. They could not afford to distrust their words, if he were to be truthful. "We need all the hope we can get," he whispered atop her head. "If it means that we must open our gates then we shall. The world needs our people, it is dying without us. Let us take this gamble." Seraphina said no words, merely held on to him, and he knew that was as much of a confirmation that he needed. He raised an arm to the sky, waving it around. The sky above him shimmered as the traces of a magical field disappeared. Tonight, the gates would lower and their people will be free to roam once more. And so the curtains fall on the end of the Starcaller's hiding. No longer were they to be protected by the shimmering illusion of Ichitarou, kept safe from the dangers of the outside world. Now they roam free from their home, finding potentials to sponsor their quest of bringing the world back to peace. The stars sing of their tales, whether it is a tragedy or comedy only a starcaller can tell. It’s leaves were a soft white, like glowing clouds in the night sky and blanketing the . When the wind blew, loose leaves danced like glittering stars in the open sky. On each side of the gigantic tree were two towering pillars made of what looked to be moonstone. The smooth surface of the towers reflected a silvery white light; in fact, it looked as though the bright white moon itself came down upon the earth and cocooned its way around the tree, protecting it from danger. From this tree comes a great source of Meteora, a valuable resource used by the Astrali to forge weaponry, heal the sick, and create powerful, magical adornments.[/indent] [font=playfair display itc][b]II. With the falling of the veil's protection Supernovas serve one great purpose: to go into the outside world and find a sponsor. Though being a Supernova is an esteemed position, only few ever wish to be promoted to such a rank after the veil fell. WITHERING SUN

As the sun began to rise, coloring the sky blue and rousing the harmony of the bird, light streamed into the mountain. Minyang glared at the bright blue skies above him. The clouds floated by with no care in the world, the birds danced and sang a beautiful performance. He thought it disgusting.

"Look at them!" He exclaimed, "living without a single care! Only thinking of food or flying freely in the sky." His fist banged against the window sill rattling the mug on it. Not wanting to spill the contents, he reached a hand to calm it.

"Calm yourself my love," a voice spoke gently from behind him.

Minyang sucked at his teeth before turning away, to face his mate. He watched as she drew runes on the floor, setting candles and other items such as flowers and precious gems on specific spots. She looked beautiful working like that.

"Xiyang," he called out to her softly, moving to help with some placements. "Are you positive about this?"

She looked up at him, a sad smile on her lips.

"I'm afraid so," she said. "I have done the ritual again and again, but still the stars do not budge." Her fingers traced over the runes, as they glowed a certain pattern leading to certain gems and flowers. A sigh left her lips, shoulders sagging as she did. It had been the third time she had asked, the third time she had done the ritual, and still the answer remains the same.

"It's not safe out there, my love." Minyang argued, pacing back and forth as he bit at his thumb. "The world out there, is still volatile. We can't--"

"Do you think I don't know this Minyang?" She spit out, hissing slightly. "Do you think I'm not aware of what this means completely? The things we've done? We--"

Minyang rushed to her side, catching her as she almost fell. He let out a deep exhale, lifting his head to the sky as Xiyang trembled in his arms. There was wetness soaking into his shirt, and his hands came to rub circles on her back. For her, he had to be strong.

"The stars," he said, "they've wronged us before, not to mention--" At the shake of Xiyang's head he stopped. She took a deep breath, lifting it slightly. Her eyes were red and swollen, but they were firm.

"We must open the gates," she said. "It is the only way to end our suffering. The stars have never wronged us, it was our forefathers who did. In these trying times, we must trust in the stars. Their guidance is our freedom."

He disagreed with her, but seeing the fire in her eyes he could only relent. The pain and suffering they had gone through. Centuries of his people living in hiding, in protection from the violent outside world. Once more he looked into her eyes, they were sad, firm, but most of all there was hope in them.

Hope. It was what they all needed. He closed his eyes and nodded to her. She smiled softly at him, before raising her hand to the sky. In the far distance the sounds of creaking was heard once more. Xiyang fell limply into her mate's arms, before she was carried gently back to bed. Today, a new dawn rises.
