@Phanerozoic The suspicion is real, lol. I will send Kir on over~. I noted in Eileen's bio that if something terrible were to happen, I'll ask you first if you want to claim her!

She growled in surprise as she slipped through a crevice and briefly pawed at air. The passage had opened up into an underground sinkhole, it seemed. It wasn’t deep, thankfully, and she made her way down into what had become a small cavern. Technically, it would be smart of her to rest here, but she found herself scrounging around already looking for the next segment of tunnel. She had to keep moving. The chamber suddenly quaked and she stopped, listening intently. It wasn’t the first she’d experienced, but she could swear it was getting stronger. Again, deep down, she felt like she should be afraid. Instead, she found herself overcome with a strange excitement. More pebbles scattered into the chamber behind her and she whirled around. There was a form pulling its way into the cavern – a head snaked around before a golden eye locked onto her. Loughrey’s lip curled up in a hiss. There was something worse about him; there were blackened marks across his scales and his feathered crest was tattered and scorched. His second eye seemed black – or missing. “Finally, the last loose thread,” he snarled. “Once I’m through with you-“ He stopped and narrowed his eyes at her. She could feel it then – see it too. Don’t bother trying to act superior – you’re the same now. Except you’ve completely lost who you are. You’re probably just following some instinct – you didn’t take the job until you knew where we were going! You wanted to come here, to this Shade-cursed place! To join with-“ He stopped and she shifted. He seemed confused, like he wasn’t sure how to finish his statement but they both still understood what he meant. Devara began to tense. She couldn’t let him get there first. She couldn’t let him steal that power from her. He apparently had the same thought because in an instant he lunged at her. She braced for the impact and they met in a mess of teeth and claws. The cavern was far too small for either of them to fly, and too enclosed for any escape. This place would become a tomb for one of them. Devara tried to use her magic – it should be strong against Loughrey’s light – but something choked it out. The Shade. It was feeding off their conflict. Loughrey was stronger than she had expected; it didn’t help that he was twice her size and using that to his advantage. Panic and desperation began to set in as she realized she would not win this fight. The passage was somewhat narrow to begin with, only made worse by partial collapses. Devara had to squirm and squeeze her way through some areas, very aware she could potentially get stuck and never escape. But she had to know what was down there.

The Shade had completely taken hold of him and she sneered at him even as he growled at her. “You. I knew there was something wrong with you since the beginning-“

“Oh, I’m sure. Don’t bother trying to act superior – you’re the same now. Except you’ve completely lost who you are. At least I still know myself!”

“I know who I am!” he shot back, crawling his way into the cavern. “But you? You’re probably just following some instinct – you didn’t take the job until you knew where we were going! You wanted to come here, to this Shade-cursed place! To join with-“

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo......................................
:'(

I guess I'm really bad at this lair space thing... as soon as I make lots of space I fill it up again!
I'm going to have to dedicate an entire den tab to Brightest Star, Darkest Night if I keep collecting your dragons @Sabariel

But Devara was probably my favorite character *sniff*
How on Sornieth did Loughrey survive? He was supposed to have been vaporised when the robots blew his (and their own) world apart wasn't he?!?

@gn0me I feel this lol. I have bought so many G1 projects in the last two months my available lair space as drastically decreased, lol! Maybe we should hold a memorial for out collective lair space [emoji=obelisk laughing size=1]. I'll send Devara on over! Gosh, Loughrey was actually in a rough spot a few death streaks ago and the jerk freaking survived. I know I should be unbiased, but I haven't really done anything to encourage his survival, but he just. AGH. It's almost surprising how this one dragon has become almost as pervasive a villain in this story as the Emperor. [s]Which is kinda fun, but I'm kinda ready for him to go now lolol[/s].

@Petall apologies if I sniped her and you were interested, but seriously its the first time I've reacted this strongly when a dragon left the story. I left this tab open and had the same reaction when i returned to it just now

@Sabariel I must have missed her art if you posted it earlier- that was an amazing surprise to find in her bio

If you're ever open for commissions in the future please let me know!

PS I added protowings - it affects her appearance in her departure post so I can remove them if you like, I was unsure if it was TOO MUCH but left it on for a second glance later.

(Also I have multiple copies of that apparel if you'd like one as a thankyou)

@Petall I will miss writing her story...

@gn0me Yeah, I think Devara's portrait is one of my favorites I've done for the 'locke~. I am thinking of opening a shop in the future, just have some things to sort out to make that happen, so I'm not sure how long it'll be until it does =w=.
And no worries! I like leaving the final image to show how they might have changed once they leave my lair! Consider it all a gift, you have no need to repay me~

Even though her sister was gone, she was sure now that they could win – and she would have regretted not helping her family see it through. Claws grasped at her and she about retaliated before she realized it was just Irani. They were both still disoriented from the explosion, but now Irani was practically beating her with his wings trying to get her to fly away. Two of the Emperor heads were starting to focus on them and they had to move quickly to escape. They leapt away from their ledge just in time, gaining the air again to come back for another attack. There was almost a constant thrumming against her ears that she guessed were the roars of the Emperor and her comrades. She glimpsed others joining her out of the corner of her eye – Athosar, Kelsus, and Chrysalis. Chrysalis pointed out toward one of the heads that was heavily frostbitten, but pink scales could just be seen underneath.
