Go then, there are other worlds than these...
Five siblings sets out to earn their birthrights - borne from death, in theese dragons veins courses more ectoplasm than blood, an ephemeral tie that links them to a future of diplomacy or fury. Theirs is a lineage that made a deal with those that have crossed over: to become their voice, to tend to the forgotten, and to aid in carrying out any unfinished business. Now and then, they're also tasks with putting unseen horrors back in the underworld where they belong and exorcising dark spectres who haunt the living. There's so much more to Sornieth than what most choose to see, so much more of this life that worth living.
Nobody comes back from beyond the veil of death unchanged.

"You haven't finished the key, but not because you are afraid to finish. You're afraid of finding you can't finish. You're afraid to go down to where the stones stand, but not because you're afraid of what may come once you enter the circle. You're afraid of what may not come.
You're not afraid of the great world, Eddie, but of the small one inside yourself." -- Stephen King, The Dark Tower series
There was so much potential in this one nest. So much to live up to, for such small creatures that had hardly begun to live. Moments after hatching from their eggs, the five newborn sisters regarded each other and their new world. Large blue eyes reflected their faces back at one another, and soon they shook off the dampness of their wings, and began to play and frollick with each other, pouncing and yipping. Striking, practicing - moments old but already understanding the world was unsafe and they would need to defend each other from the outside.
Their parents knew they would not have their children for long - it was the way of their lineage... Eventually, sooner rather than later, their would lose their children. And what would come back from the verge of death may not look like their daughters at all. What may come back could be entities entirely different ... or nothing would seem to change. Until the entities grew restless, until the never-dead began to exert dominance over their children, and their whims came to the forefront of their possessed minds.
This was not a day to look forward to. The birth of their children brought with it complicated emotions.
But for the 5 fledgling spirals, this was simply Day 1 of their Journey. And their Bargains were somewhere off in the future, some grey date looming out there, obfuscated with the haze of time.
Coming for them. If they could survive long enough to be given the choice.

Since these babs literally just hatched, and can't fight in the coli for another 5 days, I'm banking this pull for the day they age up, and instead treat this as a writing exercise.

Instead of being filled with water, Ashfall Pricklers contain a spicy sauce that goes well with anything. Weird.
