Need seamstress, runeworkers, guards & scouts, doctor, merchants
Though most of the clan are not and/or have never been dragons, the spell and runes that make up a Runeguise end up causing them to act more like one the longer it's active. An unfortunate side effect, but not a very harmful one. The wearer of the Guise may end up gaining instincts and traits of the breed they are disguised as, even though they will never be as strong as they would be in an actual dragon of that breed. Regardless, those disguised as Guardians may find themselves drawn to protecting something, similar to the drive to find a Charge, Skydancers may find themselves developing an ability to read energy and emotion, Nocturnes may find themselves more prone to mimicry, Tundras may find themselves relying more on olfactory memory, etc etc etc. The Guise may be compared to a non-permanent breed change. Also there are a few separate sets of runes for Guises depending on the breed the creature in question wishes to appear as. The differences are slight, but important.
The Runeguises use special runes created by the clan's runeworkers with the help of Havenae. The sets are identical except for the runes that refer to the breed the wearer will be disguised as. Those specific ones require some small amount of the breed's dna (usually shed scales, hair, or feather bits) imbued into whatever is used to make the runes, while the rest of the sets simply need to be saturated with magic. The easiest way to do this is different for each method of creating Guises. For garments, this means soaking the thread or fabric used for the runes in a brew made with the hair/scales/feathers. For jewelry, the metal/gems are sometimes soaked, but usually the tools used to put the runes on the jewelry go into the brew. For those with painted-on Guises, the brew is incorporated into the paint itself. Jewelry-based Guises are the easiest and most reliable ones to make, as the tools can be used many times before needing to be soaked again, while fabric/thread and paint run out relatively quickly.
Some creatures may be able to transform themselves without a Guise, but it likely consumes some amount of magic for them to keep it up. A Guise may be a backup and insurance in case they falter in their transformation.
Each member wears something with a special rune on it that identifies them as a clan member. It's hard to fake it and the rune is hidden regardless. The rune lets others know when a fellow member is nearby, heating up just enough to notice (or cooling in the case of those with a higher internal temperature) for a short period. Helpful when some like to change form often.
There are plans in the works to expand and build a more town-like structure near the Sanctum, as the clan is growing pretty large. If there's an influx of members, it's likely that the plans will be put into motion. The original members will probably remain at the main lair if this does happen, unless they want to move out. Anathema isn't currently thinking of restoring any of the other ruins, though, as she prefers to leave them be for the most part (especially the Boneyard).
