@Steffon Hi! Welcome to the thread! ;v; I'm not a specialist on any of those subjects, but I find that Wikipedia is a great foundation for any research. I often go there to figure out what I can overall from my subjects, link around a few more pages, and then I'll usually have a good idea of what I know the least about, and what specific things I need to research. I'm not sure if I'll reach 50k words for this month, but I'll at least hit 40k before October's over! Then I'll see how far I can get in November. I finished this boy's bio a little bit ago, and am still not sure if there's any grammatical errors (I found a few right after I finished). @TheDragonsQueen I never recieved the alert for your last ping. Rude, flight rising, very rude. So... remember when I said I had 18 permas? *cough* well, now I only have 5. basically, I'm spring cleaning everything in my life, and I came to the realisation that most of my dragons don't make me happy anymore, so despite their sentimental value and art and everything, they're all going (yes, including my progen). I have 5 permas left, and they're all G1 unbred. I even bought a new boy to lead them - my new avatar dragon. I had a friend who really loved my Kenai, so he's taken him and is tickled pink about that fact <3 and it looks like my friend who helped me get my 6 digits is going to take if most not all them off my hands. The rest are either level 25 or have art or both, so I guess I'll be selling them. exalt them all Iris, it's much more fun that way >:D *insert evil laughter here* I asked the person who I thought was doing it and they said they weren't planning to. Hmm. I'll poke at the other artists and see if it was someone else, or if I was just hallucinating it haha. Oh - (yes I'm chatting to them while I write it). @Steffon *looks at your laundry list, a little startled* So... this is not a genre you read in much? Usually people write the stuff they enjoy reading, so they already are reading books (or sites) about history, or spy novels, etc. Is this just an idea that struck you out of the blue?

@paintminion You're gonna do fine. Just don't go into it with high expectations... the market lately is... pretty poor. As long as you don't expect to get rich, things'll go great. :)

@CrypticGirl Just don't tell yourself you're writing 50K! Just tell yourself 'I'm gonna write 1300 words today!" And do that every day until December. >.>

@Karika I envy you your spring cleaning! I think @benalene and @LadyRowyn have made me sensitive to 'old dragon' feels though. I keep thinking 'but you've been on the site so long! I do not want to recycle you!'

It really helps when you have no emotional connection to your old dragons haha. I mean they were fun, but I'm also replacing them with dragons that represent the people who are special to me on this site, and that means more to me... at least until I get bored with these dragons and exalt them as well XD I'm pretty fickle in that way, but it will be a few years, if that happens.

The guy I gave Kenai too apparently went and yelled excitedly to another friend of ours about it. So, he's very happy to have him ^-^ I even sent him along with the accent and clothes that I had for him, so he hasn't changed at all, just relocated :D

I also now have 6 permas .-. and I have a feeling it's going to get to 10, but I wont let it get past that :P Basically one of the dom leaders was like "You need a dragon that's going to represent me." And I couldn't (and didn't really want to) say no to her, so 4kg and about 4 hours later we have a beautiful earthy coatl boy with a glimmer belly... and we're currently trying to find an accent and apparel and his last two genes. :'D she has expensive taste and it amuses me.

Are pretty children really all that important to you? It just makes them harder to turn into fodder :D though... you have a hatchery don't you? That's too complicated for me. I just breed fodder babies and then if tehy dont sell in 6 days they get trained/exalted... I'm keeping one of my fodder pairs for now, not because they're permas, I just really like the cute circus babies they spit out ^-^

Okay so, about the fae boat (I'll be getting an art of it too now because I realised it can be a pirate thing haha). The original person who I thought was planning on doing it has come to me and said that she'd be willing to try and do it for you, if you wanted to approach her. Her name is KitKatJo if you wanted to look into it. She did the fae art of my Chusayo, and also the art for Pajama (who is one of the ones getting sold) if you want to have a look and snoop around her userpage or whatnot.

Then there's Emeemay, who did the artwork for the bog in my lair - she said she'll make an adopt thing for them after the festival. *shrugs* she showed me a rough drawing of how she's planning it and it looks pretty cute - the fae is standing on a lilypand with a pole to push it along... but yeah. ^-^

Galileo's bio is great. I love the way it reads <3 keep up the good work!

@MawkishMuse Hiya! I admit that I don't often head to Wikipedia—I'm glad you directed me to it! I have by now amassed more material than I could ever hope to read in maybe a few days' time haha but that's okay. I'll read them all anyway.

@micahjaguar I have read historical fiction before, so I suppose the genre isn't very new to me. I haven't read a spy novel before, though—or at least, I haven't read a memorable spy novel. I am going to amend this soon haha.

And I am curious how your dragon story will handle immortality! @micahjaguar I did not spend much time dressing each dragon -- mostly it was just "put on a skin, move on". But it did take a couple of hours, what with buying more skins and of course some outfits I just -had- to fiddle with. I'm saving money not buying festival stuff, too. -_- I am trying to get the materials for the Baldwin's accent, but that's it. Maybe I'll sell copper muck and grey slime this festival instead of making currency like I usually do. Although I kind of like the festival apparel. I mean, okay, the skull-and-rags motif is not pretty, but it has kind of a skirt look to it. And while FR has some dresses FINALLY, we still don't have any skirts. @Steffon As a supplement for the "start at Wikipedia" suggestion: once you're at Wikipedia, go look at the references the Wikipedia article used. Another generic research tip is to focus on recent sources ( produced in the last 10 years) and contemporary sources (works written during the period you're researching). Preferably, you want to read stuff written by the people you're researching, so, English people if you're researching England, etc. @NjordGal I Googled "One Word on Day 30" and looked at the quotas-per-day for it. Hee! That's pretty cool. And the quotas aren't really ridiculous. *she says, having written at that kind of pace exactly once before for exactly one project* @CrypticGirl ... one of the reasons I like having a crappy old smartphone is that it runs EverNote all right and is bad at most everything else. It's a tough business. But the publishing part is mostly just a matter of putting in the effort to do the various fiddly bits. There are a lot of bits. But none of them are overwhelming or crazy-hard. * Book-writing hasn't been great, but not horrible. I wrote 3200 words this weekend, so that was all right. Only a thousand so far this week, so ... not Nano levels. Maybe Nano will be motivational for me this year. I mean, it never has been before, but this year could be different, right? Right. But I wrote a bio for Damianus! At Iris's prompt. Micah, Damianus is Layla's son, not that you can recognize him in that skin. :D The funny thing is that I think of Damianus as being one of my "new" dragons. Someone young and unsure and inexperienced. But I've had him for almost two years and he's level 25! With a full outfit of melee battlestones, of course. Heh! Haha, thanks for the review! ;v; Yep! It's a good thing Palinourous is okay with his new pearl. I originally bought him with the skin, not knowing what kind of lore I wanted for him, but when I saw the bejeweled "pearl" on the Scroll of Pells, the ideas all fell on me.

3200 words! ;v; That's great! Now just keep up that pace! You guys are inspiring me for Nano, so I hope I can encourage you all for the same! I normally only manage a few hundred words a day, but I managed to sit down and do about 3800 in one sitting when I had the time, so I guess it all evens out? I'm sitting at 40k for this month, which means I need 10k more before November ;;

Damianus has such a cute bio! ;v; Awwh, of course he's indispensable *hugs* Sometimes I just sit back and admire how you guys keep track of the big web of dragon families, and trade the kids and their kids back and forth, and keep them all connected somehow. It's really wonderful to see mention of "he's so and so's son, who used to be this person's dragon, who's the daughter of this person's progen." ;v;
